Sammy has lied about a lot, including why and how he flipped. He claims Gotti wanted him to outright take a guilty verdict while John walks. Bottom line is that it was Gotti's voice on those tapes, not Sammy's. No jury anywhere would've bought it. Besides, Sammy testified on the stand against Gotti and Gotti had every opportunity to blame Sammy during cross. Never happened. Over the last 30 years, every time Sammy gives a new twist to that story, the person who witnessed it is conveniently dead. Sammy recently came out with another outrageous twist to that story, claiming that F. Lee Bailey had come to him during lockup and said John wants him to take the fall because the streets need John. Sensing bullshit, I Google F. Lee Bailey and what do you know? Bailey had died two months prior. I retired as a Captain in the NYPD and I'm telling you it was virtually impossible for Gotti to walk while Sammy takes the fall. No jury would've acquitted Gotti and the whole story is asinine.

In my opinion, Sammy flipped because he was terrified of the time he was facing. Look at his booking photo. Absolutely shell shocked. Sammy flipped only weeks after Little Al D'Arco flipped and that's what drove Sammy to cooperate. He wasn't making plans after his release to reunite with some of his guys and start their own family somewhere. He's on tape. Then he realized it was easier to impress young kids in Arizona where he became the biggest drug dealer in the State.

While working on my DeMeo book, I speak to frm DeMeo homicide detective Frank Pergola a lot. He says he has a cop friend who has far more than 19 hits from Sammy. He thinks Sammy was, besides Roy, among the worst. I don't know the validity of the hits or not since Sammy isn't my focus. But he seemed more blood thirsty than Gotti ever was. @Mikey Scars I really have come to appreciate these videos you guys have been doing here over the last couple months. I have followed NYC families closely for a long time. When it comes to the Gambino family it is probably the most covered family since the late 80s. That being said, I try to find information outside everything that's been covered since then or inside details of usual stories from Gotti's era simply because I have had questions on a lot of the way things supposedly went down that doesn't add up to me. Sammy Gravano has been one of those topics with question marks surrounding his version, the 4 different movie versions, governments side documentary, and then my educated guess. The video where you not long ago read the transcripts from Gotti confronting Frank LoCascio is the perfect example of "Cosa Nostra Gold Mine" with your insight but just as valuable the clues on John's demeanor or explanation a couple of times clearing up what he meant. That answered a lot of questions and let me know one of the most important parts of what was really on John's mind when he said what he did about Gravano. That right there is 1 of the 2 reasons Sammy flipped because he claims John back dooring him & then the final straw, he claims was John telling him that his defense strategy on the case as you know is for him to try and walk while Sammy takes the fall. Sammy not too long ago on his channel claimed that whoever that first attorney was on their case didn't want any part of that excusing himself, so Gotti got another lawyer. Well, he came out saying now whatever that original lawyers name is actually has made a statement recently, and what he said corresponds with what Sammy claims. He said that you can go and look it up to see for yourself and I wish I had now I can't think of this guy's name. Obviously, it's not Bruce Cutler it is the counsel he got when the judge said Bruce couldn't represent John. This needs looked into and I might have to just do it. I think Sammy lied about a good bit of things, and I think the real reason Gas Pipe Casso's deal with the government was removed is the fact that when Casso had to tell the FEDs everything all his crimes his testimony conflicted with Sammy's. The government could not & would not allow Casso's testimony to be heard for the simple reason once Gotti's lawyer caught wind of what he said they would file for a retrial or worse on grounds that Sammy lied. FBI could not take any chances that their star witnesses testimony get called into question. Gotti was deemed to BIG to chance. Sammy & couple others try say Casso was loose cannon, but that does not mean he lied, nor does it mean he is not sane enough to recall whether or not he had done some drug deals with Gravano. A documentary by government tried to discredit Casso on few of his claims, but when I happened to come across 3 or 4 FBI surveillance photos of Gravano & Casso by themselves doing a walk & talk in one of them I just laughed especially when you take into account how after Gotti trials Gravano interview claimed to be anti-drug policy like always that is until he got popped in ecstasy ring in Arizona. I digress, gone into a rant. I want to tell you how important these videos have been and I am not the only one who has said this. I heard a good Mob channel operator here on KZbin say that he gets a lot out of these as well from good insight so whatever that is worth. You guys take care.

But as you listen to his stories you realize this is one treacherous gangster who adheres to cosa nostra rules when it benefits him. Michael made clear to me what I've been thinking. Here's a guy who helped in killing his boss, The Boss that made him and in Sammy's words held him in high regard. Turned on another boss that He claims he loved and catapulted him up in the life. I usually have a good instinct about people. It's just a thing I have, by God's graces .. The first time I heard Sammy speak, the hair stood straight on my neck. He creeps me out, and likely revels in others reactions. While he tells fantastic stories, and most buy his stories hook/line/sinker. Mikey, on the other hand, did not set of my alarm bells. The genuine intention behind his stories, should be applauded. Not for profit but, for truth. We should all aspire to hold those values. The world would be a more forgiving place. Point being... Sammy is not, and likely has never been, a "good guy". To have 0 remorse is not only inhuman, it's downright sick. An illness of the mind. Some have regret. Some try to justify. Great interview. Hope to see the Louie Milito story soon. One thing I always thought was strange is Sammys perfect memory on everything but in his book he kills Frankie Stilatano THEN Johnny Keys Simone. It's pretty easy to find out that Simone was killed in 1980 and Stilatano was killed in 1981.

An angle to why Sammy would want to do business with Dibono again is maybe Sammy wanted to get another shot at killing Dibono so the best way would be to try and do business with him again with the intention to rock him to sleep, invent an excuse and then kill him. Michael said Sammy carries grudges around with him so to me, it would make sense. Sammy couldn't just kill Dibono without some 'legit' excuse so he found a way to invent one.

Everyone who retells history puts their own perspective on it though. Sammy embellishes things and so does everyone else from that life. I like listening to all the guys that were really in that life so I can learn about La Cosa Nostra history from people who were actually there. None of them are regular, honorable guys you'd want to be involved with. Truth is, we'll never know all the facts. It's just fun to speculate and listen to mob stories. I'm so glad you are calling Sammy out. You couldn't have said it any better Michael, he changes the last 20% of a story to make himself seem like he was always in the right, that he was a perfect gangster, that everything was always other peoples fault. He contradicts himself so much from his book to now it's unbelievable. The story I hate most is him saying how Gotti was telling him he had to take the fall and how Gotti was going to set him up to take the weight. It's just so BS and wasn't even possible. The government hated Gotti so bad and wanted him in prison that they gave Sammy that completely unjust deal. 5 years for 19 murders. Sammy had never served a single minute in prison prior to that arrest with Gotti, Gotti served a couple bids over his career and is on tape basically saying "If I gotta go away I gotta go away". Sammy was the one terrified of prison. Sammy actually convinces people that Gotti was the one afraid of prison and that Sammy was going to stand up and take his life sentence but Gotti was betraying him. Like it's not enough to rat the guy out and get your sweetheart deal but to bad mouth him and lie about him decades later to make yourself look better is disgusting. Keep going Michael, you're a man's man and anyone with a brain knows you're telling the truth. You might get hate from the Sammy Swallowers that swallow up that guy's lies but the rest of us know you're telling the truth.

It's easy to find someone else's faults the rise and fall of something you would have been reluctant to speak out against in past times. It doesn't matter what Sammy did or didn't do he tried to explain the dynamics of the underworld in plane English and you still couldn't understand. Everybody wants privelege and comfort because they think it's there's for the taking. Sammys life was chosen by a higher order of celestial beings to bring things into fruition. If you could see things the way they are you wouldn't judge anyone even murderers and rapist. Blame society and the way everyone has different social status. Take for example the way the government does exactly what lacosa nostra did. They murder rape pillage and don't take no goddamn hostages and you say why? Some people just want the credit when it's God doing everything. Read Isaiah 45:7 God forms the light and creates darkness, makes peace and creates evil. At least Sammy went in and did his time that's more than I can say about society as a freeloading ungratefully bunch of people living on borrowed time. The Italians should have took over America in WW1. It's the snake eating it's own head and ordinary people are protected at the expense of the mob. Don't ever talk down on Sammy again because wouldn't have done it 35 years ago.

Sammy and Gaspipe were always friends ! They did lots of work together. From bodies, unions,schemes,drugs, everything!!
