I have a pack of eyes in the drawer and a pack of noses from the time when I was knitting teddy bears. I used the casing off a biro to help push the backs on.

You should go over tools that help with getting the eyes secure. Also I melt the back of my eyes so they don't cone off. I know so e people add glue to the back for extra security.

Do you find safety eyes pull out easy when used on a project with chunky yarn? How can I combat this?

I glue mine on. I've messed up a couple of times and got the crooked. I don't glue them on if its for a child. I crochet them on.
