If your motivation is because of anime you're doing something wrong, even the locals knows it's a hard living situation in japan specifically with "gaijins". Japan is a collectivist country, if you want to be there to stick like a soar thumb, good luck. Credit when credit is due Japan really did influence the world but at a cost of many blood and depression. Again there's many places to settle to but not japan.
