I was shocked that a Dad would not listen to his wife about the slap to his daughter from his own Mom! That would have been the straw for me. Leave and let the cards fall where they may. That is not a Father or Husband. That is just disgraceful. He doesn't deserve his family if he isn't willing to protect it. His Mom is wrong and disgusting.

I personally would inform his that mil will be taken care of by only him,that daughter and or you would not do anything for her. I'd also give him a set of rules that mil would have to follow.

This is worse than mama's boy. This is some straight up, product of emotional abuse type mommy trauma, which is way worse than girls with daddy issues. I'm a textbook mama's boy, but when she didn't like my wife (she was, unfortunately, correct), I told her that her preference has nothing to do with my mate selection, and we weren't in her house, so she needs to get over it and be nice at functions. She would never treat her grandchildren the way this demon did, but if she ever did, I'd be on the phone to the police

I don't think debtors can seize property that doesn't belong to the debtee (not sure if that's the correct word). Maybe he fell behind on his mortgage while trying to pay for Mommy Dearest's indiscretion, but they didn't take his house for her debts. Somebody lied

You are correct. Debtors cannot take property that is owned by someone else. Loan Sharks, are a completely different thing. They can intimadate him into giving his house to them, but even they can't take it; he must give it.

They don't sound like debt collectors as much as proper loan sharks. Why? Coz they gave him only one month to pay or they'd take the house. Debt collectors sometimes can pass the debt onto family if the family agree to it in some areas of the world but loan sharks use intimidation and violence to force people into signing over everything and still pay the debt. That last bit about still needing to pay the debt, even after repossessing the house, was the biggest giveaway they were illegal loan sharks.

Nope, that is what their Children were for, and both of them escaped as soon as they could : 18 for college and 19 to get married.
