Now that Shark FlexStyle came out at 1/2 the price of Dyson Airwrap, I’m sure everyone wants to know how do these hair tools stack up against each other. Here I’m going to do exactly that. We are going to compare one to one, Shark vs Dyson. We are going to dry and style half of my hair with FlexStyle and half of my head with Airwrap hair styler. We are going to look at all the options each tools provides, the quality, controls, ergonomics, attachments, and results. This will be more in detail type of comparison video. I hope you enjoy information provided in this episode.

This was the first launch with Shark. They will make things better depending on the customer reviews/ complaints. The dyson had to do the samething. Because obviously the dyson had more negative complaints when it first launched and they had to change multiple things. The price difference already makes shark better in my opinion.

shark only needs to copy dyson again for improvements then it will be perfect 😂 dyson ofc had more negative cm when first launched because it's totally new; it's a totally new idea on how to do hair, it's not a replicating product

Great comparison. I love my Dyson Airwrap, but I’m happy to see a more affordable option in the market. Shark looks good from the price point, but I love the sleekness and ease of use in Dyson and it really makes the hair feel much healthier in the long term. I find it holds the style for days on my hair and my hair grew a lot faster and looks healthier. I prefer Dyson for the quietness alone, as 25% higher dB is a huge difference and it irretrievably damages the ears at such a close range. I hope Shark 2.0 refines its snags, especially the attachments and the loudness.

I have both. The Shark has more power and the curling barrels on the Shark definitely work better. Curls are way more long lasting. But the oval brush on the Shark is a bit rough on my fine thinning hair. The boar's bristles pull out hair. No one is mentioning that the Dyson has the coanda effect on the smoothing brush as well. Shark only uses the coanda effect on its barrels. The Dyson smoothing brush is magical. So sadly, I keep both plugged in and ready to use and hope one of these companies comes up with a complete solution.

Sound is measured in decibels, which is on a logarithmic scale. So the shark may be 25% dB louder, but that the actual sound is way louder. An increase by 10 dB means that the sound is 10 times louder. An increase of 20 dB means that the sound is 100 times louder.

Nah but the 250 price is much more comparable I feel for this kind of dryer. Obviously dyson was the only one on the market to have this kind of technology so they could charge whatever they want with no competition. But now they have REAL competition. And just like dyson did they will make improvements and uprage it as needed after listening to customer feedback. And honestly I like shark products over dyson. I bought a dyson vaccume for like 400ish crapped out after 1.5 years with mostly hard floor use my shark is a BEAST AT 230 more suction more durable, longer laster better on carpet and on upholstery. Heat isn't a reflection of air flow, Dyson airflow is amazing. It always gives this amazing Salon look. From the experiment the Dyson curls held up longer. Bottom line, buy what suits you no one should go bankrupt over hair. But the Dyson will always be my choice.

There’s no way in the world that I would spend that much more for for the Dyson. Nothing is worth that much more. I love my shark. I started out with the first Shark. And to be honest my diffuser on the Shark can’t be beat

I wanna say that these tools aren’t designed the way people think. As a biomed engineering students, product development for the beauty industry aren’t that serious. The dyson “technology” isn’t that ground breaking. It’s a temperature sensor programmed to regulated the air flow to stay in between 2 variables. As for the differences for the design like the control bottins being at the bottom, it’s probably because they are trying to not get sued. 8 differences in the physical product need to be visibly observed for shark to be safe. I can spot colour, button position, number of button, number of settings, size of the tools and the number of attachements.

I enjoyed your review esp on the technical side measuring loudness and length, and heat flow, etc. I look forward to seeing the Revlon comparisons . I wonder if they plan to do a holiday gift set and include a case with that and maybe extra attachment or the additional attachments may come later but I could definitely see a case coming for the holidays

@@Carlyw9t2 it’s called the Revlon one step initially when you buy it you only get the big round brush attachement but I’ve heard that hot tools and Revlon are own by the same company and the hot tools round brush is detachable and has different size brushes that you can also use with the Revlon. I’ve tried it and bought a bigger brush head from hot tool and it does work. Also Revlon just came out with a blow out curling iron that I think can also be used with the round brush blow dryer but it’s all sold separately.

@@allisonhernandez3829 yeah I don’t get why the UK one came in a different color and they got a case. Idk maybe they are testing it in the UK and will drop the new color and case here for a holiday special and drop the silver one in the UK for the holidays ???

@@peony2353 yes it could be. One of my biggest gripes with Dyson and, now, Shark is the fact that these tools that are first so expensive, second made to make everything easier are not dual voltage. These are obviously perfect travel devices but if you go to Europe/Asia or vice versa, you can not use it.

Based on reviews I have seen, it seems Dyson is slightly better. However, just on the price alone, I think I would get a Shark. I find Dyson's products excessively expensive....

I agree. I think the Dyson one seems a little bit more high-end and thoughtfully designed, but the Shark costs 55% less than the Dyson, and the performance is probably only about 10% worse.

@@Galworld761 I agree Companies should get a good return on their investment but charging $500 for a hair tool is beyond excessive and in my opinion, greedy.... We also had a Dyson vacuum, and it broke down after a few years. Maybe we got a bad one but regardless, we certainly didn't think we got our money's worth.... And personally, I don't want a vacuum cleaner that is 20 years old because even if the vacuum is good, it probably won't compare to newer vacuum cleaners with updated features and updates..... Anyway, everyone is entitled to their opinion. We will agree to disagree.

@@parissinclair6513 Interesting. Based on the reviews I've seen (Ive seen a lot because trying to decide which to get for xmas lol) the Shark styler does the same thing if not better than the Dyson (it's more powerful, can go hotter and twists to the 90 degree angle, curls last longer etc). The only issue I've seen is where the buttons are on the Shark. The Dyson had issues when it first released and Shark have only just released their product. Based on my experience too Shark products last longer than Dyson products. It seems you get the same results with both which to me personally does not justify spending twice the amount of money on a Dyson.

@@eleanorlinsley169 that seems like a deal breaker though, especially for people who have damaged or colored hair. They want something not as powerful & not as hot.

LOVE watching your comparison videos. THE FOLLOWING IS MY OPINION: A person can go to any outlet store and buy a box or container to put an appliance and its attachments in that goes with their decor and NOT pay extra dollars for something they probably won’t even like. Everybody’s hair is different, there is to many reasonable priced appliances on the market and styling accessories for hair type to use to condition the hair, HEAT IS HEAT, COUNTING 1 to 10 seconds is easy. Most heating instruments let’s the user choose the heating degrees to be used. Charging or paying $700.00 for an appliance for hair is R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S. One person thinks a product is perfect, another person thinks that same product is not worth their time.
