Actually from my point of view as an chemical engineer - if your wet hair contains only water (no leave-in), then by heating it with straightener it cannot achieve temperature higher than boiling water temperature - 100 celsius or 212 fahrenheit. Only after all water evaporates from hair, the temperature in that lock of hair can raise above 212 F. So by using that straightener on your wet hair you are not frying it, even though the sound is unpleasant. The damage is done probably after too many passes caused by unevenly drying and bad quality plates. As a consumer I prefer drying my hair with a hair dryer and then styling it with a hair straightener because that process is much more effective. But I had to say that poor performance of remington straightener is not due to using it on wet hair, but because of other factors like design of the device (maybe too small holes) or just not good enough quality plates.

She seems way too concerned about the Remingtons temperature when you can't even controll it on the GHD. Plus, on Remingtons side she skipped the ends a few times but not with the GHD and then she goes and smooth everything in the GHD side (because tbh both sides looked very similar) and only after that she compares the sides and says that the ends on Remingtons side are way more frizzy... Of course! You just skipped them! . Like... She have been doing hair tools videos for a while. You would think that she can actually flat iron the hair while comb it first all the way to the ends. And also... You could buy 13 Remingtons with the price of the GHD... With that price difference you would expect GHD to be 13x better haha

Ghd control the heat, so that at max 185 degrees Celsius the hair once washed goes back to its original state. Ghd Duet : - Air heat (middle) 150 degrees Celsius - Air heat (side vents) 90 degrees Celsius - Plates on side 120 degrees Celsius Shine Shot - Side Plates only - 185 degrees Celsius (Platinum+ Tech)

It did feel a little, biased. It kind of seems like maybe since she already has the pricier ones, she will just opt for them. Which does not make for a great comparison video. I remember when she'd say things like "the results are better with the pricier tool, but you can achieve the same with the cheaper tool and not break the bank"

Totally agree, it seems she is deliberately leaving the ends. Looks exactly the same both sides😮

The Remington wet2dry brings back memories. I used it at least 15 years ago when getting ready to go to work before the crack of dawn. The pin straight hair was the look at the time, so I would spray water and dry/straighten to refresh the style. I've had color treated hair for a long time, but using this every day didn't damage my hair. I used it for a few years, until I cut my hair to a short bob and didn't want my hair that flat anymore. I bet I still have it in the bottom of a drawer. I will totally use it now that I have long hair again!

I mean for the extreme price difference I was thinking it would be more noticeable differences. To be honest the Remington didn’t do terrible but I don’t like straightening my hair while it’s wet. But 400 is absolutely insane for a hair tool especially when you can get the whole shark set for cheaper.
@aeriz85
@aeriz85 Жыл бұрын
U can’t compare both products, if I wanted frizzy hair and volumen I would use a dryer, or a fancy dryer for less frizz but if u want super sleek no volumen hair the GHD is the way to go, on y it’s not for everybody.
@chasitym.4949
@chasitym.4949 Жыл бұрын
@@aeriz85 there are so many affordable products. My main takeaway is that for that price point in comparison with the other one it should be an astounding difference and there wasn’t one. With the shark set it comes with a sleek straightening brush that can provide the same effect and it comes with other attachments. That whole set is cheaper than this one product that didn’t even do a good enough job to see a noticeable difference from the cheaper one.

I mean to each their own and course people can purchase whatever products they like, just for me personally it’s way over priced for minimal results.
@aeriz85
@aeriz85 Жыл бұрын
@@chasitym.4949 That sleek straightener brush it’s not for ppl like me with very thin hair for example, maybe for someone who want to smooth a bit their style but if u really looking for straight sleek hair that ghd is the best thing I have ever tried, that is overpriced? totally but there is not another one who can give u same levels of results without frying ur hair or making u to look like u got strike by a lighting in the process. Obviously if u are looking for versatility it’s not ur device and that’s ok, not everything works for everybody.

I thought that the difference was extremely noticeable, there was literally no comparison to the competence of the GHD over the Remington. I nearly switched off to find a better tutorial on the GHD it was taking so long to do one section that didn’t even get more than 5% completed once she switched to the other side.

You're wrong about the GHD Duet - the plates are warmed to 120 degrees centigrade when using the hot air mode. Then they heat to 185 degrees centigrade using the shine shot mode. I know because I have one and love it (UK).

I have had multiple Remmington products over the years and they do have a very bad smell like a water hose that is being melted. Most of the time the smell goes away after a few uses but I have had a couple of straighteners that didn’t ever stop smelling and I had to just get rid of them.

It's not worth 400 imo. It should out perform the 30 dollar one. I can get the same look with my airwrap and it will take 5 min to do my whole head if I want it sleeked out with a flat iron.

That’s right! I dry my hair with Dyson hairdryer in like 4 min , and if I want to use my Airwrap to style it it’s like 10 min … I don’t know but I think this company run out of ideas. Or if I want a poker straight hair I use my Dyson corrale which takes me max 10 min … (chest length ) I used to like my old ghd but that broke, bought another one, similar issue and I give up

Without comparing it to other device, in this video, it does perform better than Remington. Her ghd side is much faster and sleeker. I would only question the voltage or electric consumption of the ghd.

I have the air wrap and the ghd. I have long straight hair. I 100% prefer the GHD duet, it’s one of those things you have to try to understand how different it is. It takes me a good 20 min to blow dry my hair with the air wrap, and it’s usually fluffy afterwards ( nothing wrong with that, I just prefer straight hair). The GHD gets it’s done in 10 min and it looks like I straightened it (before actually using the hair straightener). I’m actually getting rid of the air wrap, I don’t use it enough to justify keeping it. Just another perspective from someone who has both. If you like straight/sleek hair after the shower, I love the GHD 👍🏻.

I have owned Wet2straight flat irons for at least 10 years and only use it after blow drying, never on wet hair. The only reason I find it more effective than the other flat irons I have tried, is because the wet2straight removes any extra humidity from my hair after blow drying and it makes my blowout last longer. I live in a very, very! humid tropical place so I don't think that the GHD results would last on me.

I stop using a straight iron for some years and last year about the Remington wet2dry and I’m don’t love it. It’s not too bad it gets the job done but my hair doesn’t feel smooth. My first iron was a Sedu and then a Chi both were great and lasted 3-4 years each , then I didn’t want to spend any more money do I used Hot Tools which pulled and was not smoothed but got the job done for $20 and lasted 5 years. I then used the Instyler which I liked but hated the sound because I do my hair early in the morning. Then I use Anika comb which is good but gets gunk on it and too hard to keep clean. I need a travel friendly 1.5-2 inch flat iron and suggestions??

I nearly switched off to find a better tutorial on the GHD it was taking so long to do one section that didn’t even get more than 5% completed once she switched to the other side. I have relatively straight hair anyway, so I think I will rough dry with my GHD Helios hairdryer first, then instead of using my GHD straightening irons I will go over with this, as I think it will be kinder to my hair without hot plates. The whole concept of wet to dry is a bad idea- causing the moisture inside your hair to suddenly expand and turn to steam can blow holes through your cuticle layer. With that kind of damage, your hair loses its ability to keep any moisture inside it, as well as causing the hair to look dull and broken. Light won’t be reflected because of the damaged cuticle layer, so there’s no shine or luster! Baaaaaaad !
