thank you for making this video. my buddy pretty much said the same thing last year when the BC was installed on my 9nth gen si. but as someone who wants to doublecheck, there was little information explaining these coilovers, and in one video, it was comprehended that you had to change preload with ride height. doesn't help that the instructions were just as vague and when I asked on a forum, no one could help me out or there was any past thread regarding how to make changes on the coil overs. This had prevented me from switching out my OEM wheels with nice advans. now I can make the changes with confidence. thanks

From what I read in the BC instructions, at 5:27 the method you show is correct to raise the vehicle height. However, to lower the vehicle the instructions say to turn to TOP collar. The very first one at the top. That collar should be turned counter clockwise to lower the vehicle.
@bassicaw11432 жыл бұрын
Remember that adjusting your ride hight actually changes the suspension geometry and you will need to get an alignment afterwards or you can absolutely shred through tires

Thank you Buddy,I haven’t messed with my coilovers on the Rx8 because I had no idea on raising it up (since the rear quarter panel are down to the radius line of the side wheel) the front is low but not as low at the rear. Now I Understand and will get to work on it as soon as it warms up in a few days as well as replacing rear end link that’s off the rubber plus the other three links, can’t wait to do it, been riding it super low “don’t like it” Plus the hassle on putting wood blocks just to use the low profile Jack. Good vid. Nobody ever shows the rear adjustment which I think is the hardest on bc. I’m trying to raise my back but the ring won’t turn without taking the threaded column with it. Do you need to compress the spring or something to adjust?
@milanmastracci2 жыл бұрын
If you have any dirt in the threads, it will really be a pain to adjust it. Feel free to spray the threads with some sort of liquid silicone spray to lubricate everything.
@xdejablu3x5 жыл бұрын
Good video. You should make another video mentioning the eyelet hole on the shock body because I talked to a BC rep about what that hole is and it's a safety measurement mark show the minimum point you adjust the cartridge. Every BC application is different on many cars so some have bigger or less minimums. So pretty much if you dont see anymore threads in that hole then it's too high and have the possibly to crack components because there is not enough material to be supported. Keep it in mind.

Hey Ziad, it sounds like you may have too much spring preload, which is removing the amount of suspension travel you have before it bottoms out.

Could also be a loose coil spring from negative (ie. loose) preload.
@leninthomas90253 жыл бұрын
Can be shock hitting the cv axle maybe try adjusting the coilovers
@scottselby636 жыл бұрын
That’s not how preload works. Maybe if your car was riding In its fully extended position all the time but preload on adjustable coilovers is to change the bump and compression stroke. Think of it like this when your linear spring is under the weight of the car it will always compress the same amount you’re just changing it’s position in the shocks piston stroke. By adding more preload you increase bump travel so the shock can compress further when you hit a bump and by reducing preload you increase rebound travel. Running around on 0-5mm preload you’ll end up on the bump stops a lot in a street car. I have bc brs on my r56 and I set them up according to factory spec at first. The ride was harsh and bumpy on our terribly paved fl highways and even playing with damper settings made a negligible difference due to the fact that I simply didn’t have enough preload/bump travel and I was hitting the rear bump stops often. Next I removed everything and started over. I measured the distance from my bumpstop to the top inside of the shock at full compression under the weight of the car and realized that I had 1.5cm of bump travel with zero preload and several cm of rebound travel. I wound the spring perch up another cm effectively increasing my compression stroke by %60 and now it rides and handles so much better. Just my experience

Hope you’re doing well, i just installed BC Racing BR coil-overs & once i installed them i noticed the Passenger side is lower than the Driver side, but not by much. I installed them how they came, without adjusting the height to see how it will come out looking. The rear sits evenly. I tried lowering the driver side to match the passenger side but it didn’t even change a thing
@milanmastracci Жыл бұрын
So keep in mind, even with the coilovers set perfectly even from left to right, the weight of every car does not have a perfect 50/50 balance, so you might notice it be uneven. A 4 corner balance following the coilover install will give you the best performance and balance.
