In the face of adversity, MILCK refuses to be silent. The Los Angeles-based singer went viral at the Washington Women’s March with her song “(I Can’t Keep) Quiet.” We loved it. So we invited her to come sing it with us.
On February 6th, a sold-out crowd of 1300 singers at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto raised their voices to protest the current US administration’s threatening action on global liberty, women’s rights, healthcare etc. Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman, co-founders of C!C!C!, taught their arrangement of “Quiet” to the pumped-up, all-ages crowd, and an hour later, MILCK joined them to sing lead and record a powerful show of peaceful, harmonic resistance, with proceeds going to support the American Civil Liberties Union.
“Quiet” has quickly grown from female empowerment anthem to a unifying message of hope and raucous protest for young and old, and for all genders. Play it, feel it, share it!

Vittoria Seems they replaced the funnest part to sing (the no-o-o o-o-o o's) with flat no's instead. My 5yo would dislike this version just sayin that used to be her fav part to sing.

in my school I'm just about the only person who believes in woman's rights and global warming (or any science for that matter) and it kills me not to be able to speak up without risk of prosecution, when I heard this for the first time I almost cried, I was so happy that people were finally taking a stand a stand for everything Americans hold dear and everything America should stand for. THANKS SO MUCH TO THE PEOPLE THAT DID THIS it gives me hope that one day everyone will be able to unite behind something like this and fight for what is right.

@@balladconfuoco People in power take you seriously when you legitimately threaten to remove them from power. These last mid-terms began that process and it is MOST VITAL that we work even harder to do it again and elect an ally to the Presidency as well as take back more seats in Congress. This is a story of how I Couldn't Keep Quiet. Right now, I'm working at the Geneva Autosalon as a Hostess for a very prominent car producer. In this business, the sexism is rampant. I listened to my boss and others make one sexist comment after another, saying I should show some more chest if I need something from a man, showing me (his female employee!) a picture of a woman with scraped knees titled "Employee of the Month" and expecting me to laugh along etc. On the third evening he added homophobic ("if God had wanted that he would have only made women or only men" "If my son was gay it'd be my worst nightmare") and xenophobic (mostly insulting Muslims) comments to the mix and I started speaking out. I told him that I didn't want to work for a man like him. I reprimanded him for his sexism, homophobia and racism in front of the whole team. I was very harsh, I was so angry. He is the father of a young girl. People later told me that they were relieved somebody had finally said something (and were surprised that it was me because I'm a very small woman haha!) but that they couldn't risk their job doing the same because they needed the money. Although I am proud of myself, I recognize that I could only do this because I am financially privileged and I don't depend on this job for my existence. As long as sexism permeates our economy, it'll be hard to change the injustice. However, this so did empower me to take a step, so thank you very much! Edit: I corrected a few spelling mistakes.

TINY MUSTARD SEED.- I watched a video the night before the Womens' March 2017 of a small choir, meeting for the first time in person and practicing to perform #ICantKeepQuiet at the March. I posted it to my FB page as #MyKindOfProtest (That turned out to be #MILCK) Then ... what followed ... was HERSTORY! So proud of people making humanity great again and connecting through music as our great, great, great, great grandmothers would have wished for us. We all descend from Mitochondrial Eve and WE ALL BREATH OXYGEN. Thank you for giving a voice to inspire ALL and thank you for helping to give pause to what is unsaid in the quiet. #USA #Sustainability #HumanRights #EusocialSpecies #HomoSapiens #Earthlings #Persistence @peacemagnetusa #Music #Americana

Listening to all versions of this epic song on my way to post office. It’s almost midnight. I had three days to file a formal complaint to postpone the investigation of the rape of my child. His testimony is allegedly unreliable. He went for it even when secondary victimization hit us. We're going for it, even though it probably won't change anything. Because I #IcantBeQuiet and I have to be the voice of the child whose voice is not yet strong enough.

When I've watched too many news clips about the hell that is our current administrator, and read too many comments from racists, and fought down ableist attitudes just to buy groceries, I turn this song on on repeat and let it remind me that good people really do exist. (My favorite version, though, to play like that is the a capella version from Full Frontal. This version, though, might be my new favorite to *watch*, as the crowd of faces, and it's diversity, is so reassuring.)
