Are those hills man made or natural?
@TheBeatenTrail Жыл бұрын
Those are actually leftover mining contents, which are not 100% coal but a certain percentage of coal that isn’t economical to use but one never knows if those will eventually be reclaimed and sold. It is technically called CULM, or the leftover of coal mining.

@@TheBeatenTrail - Wow that's a heck of a lot of material to be put there by man lol. I should be going there this year, I have a sport ATV (KFX450R) and my friend has a Banshee, what parking spot do you think is the most sport ATV friendly area and has the most open pit area (if any) and hillclimbs. I kinda want to stay away from mud pits and slow 1rst gear rock crawling.
@TheBeatenTrail Жыл бұрын
I would say its Ashland South for that Mile Hill area, but also Locust Gap and then travel to Mount Carmel, PA. If you hae access in the town of Mt Carmel, you can go from there. Its all Famous Reading Outdoor property.

@@TheBeatenTrail - If you where to chose between AOAA and FRO for sport ATVs which one would you choose or are they more or less the same?
@e5m956 Жыл бұрын
@@TheBeatenTrail - I was looking at the maps of Fro and looks like the Burma parking spot by the Walmart might be cool. Looks like a lot of open trails right from the start, has the big hillclimb behind the Walmart and what they call the quad desert on the other side of the road.

I want to start going there, do you have to check in at a certain spot? And do they check for insurance?
@TheBeatenTrail2 жыл бұрын
Usually if you get your pass in the mail or in person, you just keep it on you. Security patrols mornings at the lots, but I have not seen much of them at this location. I think the website says you should have insurance, always wise," The Permit Holder warrants and represents that (a) the vehicle(s) that the Permit Holder are using is/are lawfully registered, inspected, and insured..."

That's not their anymore their stripping mining it

I know, so sad. First the Incline, then Mile hill and from what I hear the 500 at Mt Carmel is next - already clearcut. Not worth the price anymore if they keep taking land and hills away from the riding members.
