Lower RPM part is true but if the usage is daily then approximately once a week you need to take it to 3000 RPM for sometime to help in decarbonisation otherwise with low RPM driving the carbon deposits increases

@fajardeenkhan9769 yes for decarboniization but in petrol even once in two weeks is sufficient.. diesel the carbon deposits are anyways high and now there is the issue of DPF getting choked so it is mandatory for once a week in BS6 diesel cars

Drove a car for 15 yrs, used to change gear according to speed as also if in wrong gear, engine sound will alert. My new car is equipped with meter showing RPM. Now a look at tachometer alerts if in wrong gear. ❤

At times one must make try and make maximum use of lower gear to brake the speed rather than the brake.In this the RPM should be permitted to go above 1500 and even upto 4000 to keep the exhaust system clean.

Useful information. But in my XUV300, while office commuting, not much difference in a bumper to bumper busy road.Max shown is 15.4 (as per mid)which is almost same as before watching this video.

Regularly follow for sometime....mine xuv300 petrol gives 14-16 in city and 17-19kmpl on highway...I always change gears at 1500 rpm and keep A.c at 22 degree intially for first few minutes and then keep it at 24 degrees for rest of the journey.... avoid unnecessary gear shift and use engine breaking to slow down whenever possible

Low RPM is not advised to diesel engines. For diesel engines, best mileage is in range of 2200-2500rpm because maximum torque is available in this range. Moreover carbon deposit due to lower rpm increases in diesel engines resulting in compression failure due to less lubrication and more friction, rings are worn out resulting in engine overhaul. So in nutshell to keep engine and mileage in optimum range Petrol 1400-1750rpm Diesel 1850; 2200-2570rpm 1850 rpm is only for Tata Altroz diesel because it's turbo kicks too early around 1600rpm, giving mileage in range of 25-28kmpl in diesel.
