Your excellent driving Mike followed an exceptional well thoughtout tour of downtown OKC. Veiwing your video from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia as an older local resident puts my city to shame. OKC is so well planned...the multilaned streets are open and so clean & tidy. The parks and avenues are very well kept. There were no road works and building constructions spilling onto footpaths & roads. Pedestrians seemed so relaxed and happy...wish I could be with them. If I were residential in the USA, I don't think I could find a better place to live than in OKC. OKC and its folks make for a true standout American city. Thank you for your tour...much appreciated. 🦘

I live in Oklahoma City. Until c. 2006, what's now the overpass over I-40 was an underground tunnel that dipped under the railroad. Oklahoma City Boulevard at 2:00 was where I-40 used to run through until 2012 when it was re-routed south. At 2:40 on the right is the Cox Convention Center (formerly the Myriad).

Nice, clean city, but the downtown looks tiny. It only seems to go a few blocks in each direction. Anyone else notice how quickly he leaves the downtown core. Also the density is low. Theres so many empty parking lots that need to be turned into offices, housing or shopping.

Downtown OKC is more for night life and not to many people live downtown so mid day it’s dead I suspect that will change with all the high density developments planned over the next few years

It's a Sunday morning - not much going on as would be the case where you live! Plus there are probably more people out and about in this video than in many other city videos by this publisher.
@bchristian858 ай бұрын
@@Soonerinseattle OKC is always about to finally arrive within "the next few years" and never does. The thing is, OKC is what it is and that is a car oriented city. There's walkable places and districts but they aren't as lively as in other cities, especially if it isn't a Friday or Saturday night or if there isn't a Thunder game happening. That's fine though. While OKC may be less lively than other cities on the surface, it is a lot more accessible. Ironically, the city I live in now has a lot more to do, but I did a lot more when I lived in OKC.

go back and observe many people, especially in Bricktown and near the two parks. In the CBD, not so much but that's true for most big cities during off hours, not exclusive to Oklahoma City. And, as was mentioned - this is July (the hottest month) where temps get above 110 F and humidity above 50%; not many will be out during the height of this climate regardless of where it is, let alone a Sunday.
