I have a whole tank just with Leather and Toadstool corals. Love them and quickly growing.

How long did they take to acclimate to the tank? I got a toadstool the other day and it's like the polyps only half extending, little bumps but the pretty parts aren't coming out

@@dr3kiki Be patient with it. They normally take a week to acclimate to the new tank and then they will suddenly start growing like crazy. I've just started a new tank that I want to make another leather and softie tank with local caught tropical marine fish. I'm in Durban South Africa.

@@heinrichvisser8518 that's awesome. Do you have an Instagram account or something we could keep in touch with? I'd love to see it

That's a really nice tank. I really love leathers and how simple they are to keep. What I love of them the most is that they suck up nitrates.

I ve been toying with the idea of having a toadstool only tank, but was worried about variety. This really gives me some ideas! Thanks!

That's an awesome collection of leathers. Those are my favorite of all corals along with palythoa grandis. The movement is just mesmerizing. I can just sit there and watch them.

My tank goes bonkers when they shed. Run carbon shedding time. Corals over years have got used to it. Things shrink but rebound. I know when hammers close.....oh crap carbon time.

I've always wanted to try these but i have no space for them now😹 i didn plan them in my current build. Ill probably try it in my up and coming build. Also hope you get over the Cold/flu soon. Try some fresh squeezed lime/lemon juice with honey. It knocks that soar throat right out

Yohan M thanks for the tip on the lime juice and honey sounds tasty and soothing 😋. Maybe a small frag if you’re low on space?

A large toadstool when fragged, along with its frags should be moved to a separate vat / tank of water, for at least a week before you put it back in main display. Let them heal and settle down. Reduces risk of toxins. Just lay the frags on a bed of rubble in a large Pyrex in the vat. I have a 15” or so weeping will going to get its next big fragging, soon. Also an 8-10” bright green long polyp Japanese leather. Can’t wait. Come and get them.

Loved it Scott!! I have a 28gal nano with a huge toadstool in it...thanks for info about lighting and flow!!! Oh yah mine has an offspring also..I've had it for about 5 years in my 120gal..I just couldn't bare to get rid of it...when it sheds it's a pest to others but nothing a little love can't cure👍🏼 PS flatworms suck!!

How do you acclimate it to the high light and flow? Just slowly move it higher up and close to the pump?

Do you know what they call the one that drops of pieces and self frags? You cant find any info on differet types of toadstools. It just says they are all sacrophyton, but like I said last comment. I have seen Japenese, Tyree, devils hand and umbrella. I thought I was getting this figured out and the you went and said that one drops pieces off of itself! LOL

Trying to get a wavy toadstool and a devils hand. I like the green polyps with pink skin like one you had is that connsidered a tyree? From all this research that is what I am coming up with and japenese is all green. Petco has a pink skin and looks like slight green (white light) polyps but it had short tentacles. a lfs that I am going to has a tyree for 45 bucks and I am driving there to pick up some corals I bid on and then a lady on ebay has one going off tonight. free shipping and cheap bid I am so confused. The one at petco already was wavy and had like cuts into it. More than just wavy. Maybe that is like your sacrophton devils hand one when it gets older. Didi it look like that a s a small frag, because when I read about devils hand they call them lobophytum but I have yet to see one of those for sale. You said the sacrophtons were better, what is the difference? I should probably pick up the petco one and the tyree but my big tank isnt ready yet and they have it now and its the only time I have seen it yet. Would 2 small ones be okay in a 10 gallon for a few months until I can add it to my big one I am setting up Tuesday with life rock. Dont want to rush the tank and have problems down the road! Thanks for any advise. Love your tank and leathers!

Do yours close up for a few day after you cut them? My leather does and I am wondering if that’s normal.

flat worms , I dealt with a massive amount of flatworms. I just started with a small dose of FlatwormX and keep killing small amounts vs all at once.

abreezeducttesting I have to say I’m pretty scared of Flatworm exit I know some pretty good Reefers who have had major crashes they attribute to using it. It’s supposed to be less of a problem with the photosynthetic verity I have but I’m still not convinced.
