Amazing song bar-none! Check out pics of the band. He was never front and center. Shows modesty in his genius and appreciation for his fellow band mates. RIP Sir.

I am not a guitarist, BY ANY MEANS, as some aficionados would be able to tell in seconds, just by quickly looking, what brand, make & model of guitar Paul is playing here; that I cannot do...BUT...I can & will say, that he is playing THE EXACT SAME GUITAR he used in the official music video of "HEART OF THE NIGHT" produced by ABC Records in 1978 and the numerous television programs Poco appeared on to tour the "Legend" album that same year, into 1979. On the You Tube channel "corazonazultw", Corazon & I placed up on there (back in 2009) Poco's performance of "Heart Of The Night", with Paul Cotton on the lead vocal, USING THAT VERY SAME RHYTHM ELECTRIC GUITAR! The performance was from the popular television program at the time, SOLID GOLD, videotaped in 1982. Even though the synchronization is off just a hair, the link is below. He must have carried that classic instrument with him until his very last days; what a total signature sound it had!!! FINAL THOUGHT: Paul Cotton was a GREAT singer/songwriter and a humble force to be reckoned with; the decades he and Rusty Young held Poco together; both have left us now, but not without COUNTLESS classic compositions! I think hat the guitar Paul Cotton plays in this video clip is a Gretsch White Falcon. RIP the great Paul Cotton of POCO.

Young folks don't know what it was like to be a poor teenager back in the 70's. Most of us could not afford to purchase our own albums, so one tended to cherish the albums they had and take care of them. Most of us fantasized about putting the record on the turntable and having s*x with our girlfriend. For those extremely rare moments we needed a song like, "In the Heart of the Night." There was no cable-tv, no late night tv in most places, nor decent radio stations, especially at night.

I kind of felt for him at the beginning because of the size of the shoes he had to fill ie Jim Messina's. at first he was asked to be a Messina clone, but soon after became himself. RIP

The less of the lead guitarist and the female singer the better.

This sounds like a bad version of karaoke. When vocalists think they can still sing despite their age, they're wrong. He lost his range and breath control which is typical with aging.

Good Grief! Is this Simon from American Idol? Yes, he’s much older but still a solid performance, not to mention it’s a benefit concert. Stay positive Chief~
