Sitting here in Bogotá waiting for the Parker House Rolls to rise. Listening to Poco. Gosh! How many times have I seen them play? Dozens? My family here thinks I'm a great chef. Low and slow pork ribs....rolls. They've never eaten food like this. I saw where some people wrote how listening to this song made them cry. I can see that. In February I'll turn 70. What a great time to grow up the 60's and 70's. Wonderful music. We thought the world was changing for the better. Then I read a few more comments. One in particular said that Rusty had Passed away. I looked at the date. Two months ago. How did I miss that? The song ended and I played it again. After a minute or so I noticed tears running down my face. Those people were right.... Thank you Rusty. What a great ride..

I am from New Orleans. I played a tour around the U.S. in the summer of 2001. I opened up for Poco at a 4th of July show in Commerce City in Denver Co. In the middle of our show, Rusty Young approached us and asked if he could sit in with us (being a New Orleans band) and if we could play Jumbalaya...we did and he played a few more with us. Their bassist had trouble with the rig supplied by the rental compay, so he ended up using my bass rig for their show. Very nice gentleman. They sounded amazing. I saw them the nite before also in an outdoor performance in a park in Denver we were invited to. Amazing performance!

Went to an open mic night once and heard this for the first time. The musicians just jammed so beautifully and kept this piece going on forever. It was almost hypnotic, incredibly mesmerizing, and I asked my friend Mike (who'd been a studio musician for many of the bands I so loved) whose song this was, and he told me. I loved Poco anyway, but hadn't heard this before, and when I found THIS version it took me right straight back to that small smoky club with candles on the table, a glass of wine sitting abandoned while my husband and I danced...perfectly attuned, just one body. We weren't married very long then and hadn't learned to dance so well yet....until then. Even now if he hears me playing this, he comes in and pulls me to him to dance slowly, just as we did then. One of the best memories ever, and I love that I get to re-experience it again and again. This is the most perfect arrangement I have ever heard.

Great Version Paul was quite influenced by J J Cale it was something he and Eric Clapton had in common it might have been the reason why Eric had asked Paul to come up and play with him at one of his shows. EC Was a friend of the bands for years. Got to know Richie and Jimmy while they were in the Springfield. Then they shared producers for a bit and the friendship continued throughout the years.

I just read a recent article about Poco coming up with a new style of music and then getting it "stolen" by The Eagles... no it didn't. No one does like Paul (vocals and guitar) and Rusty (very good, and also incredible sounds.. like the beginning of this, and an 'organ' sounds on "Nobody's Fool".. back when Jim Messina was w/Poco), and George and Richie had unique contributions. I don't know much about Timothy B with The Eagles, but he added a LOT to Poco (see a live version of "Rose of Cimarron" on youtube.. that voice.. I've also read he seemed happier with Poco vs. The Eagles [don't know if true]).

Leyenda/Legend.

Yes, but you know some folks in their 40's have never heard of Poco. I guess time flies.

way too fast! :0---but trying to enjoy each year....56 really crept up on me---when people ask my age -just to ask--I tell them 60 & enjoy their surprised looks---plus when I reach that age--it won't feel as shocking??? I hope :0

Just had Crazy Eyes on in the car today. The rendition of this song is fabulous, and they more than delivered here live. I miss Tim's harmony and the sax line, but this is still pretty perfect. Poco always makes me happy (:-)

jsclemokie, in this video, is four-fifths of the band that did Magnolia on its original release in 73 (on Crazy Eyes). Rusty Young, Richie Furay, Paul Cotton, and George Grantham. Only Timothy B. Schmit, who was recruited by the Eagles to replace Randy Meisner in '77, is missing. And current bassist Jack Sundrud, shown here, is every bit the talent that Timmy is. But this was a one-time reunion for Richie, and Grantham had a stroke later that year. Yet, Poco still amazes on this song today.
