My favorite Miles Davis group. Back in the early sixties, I listened to the “Jazz Track” album: “On Green Dolphin Street”, “Fran Dance”, and “Stella by Starlight” hundreds of times. I was obsessed and still am, though I saw Miles, Herbie, Wayne, Ron, and Tony at the Vanguard and saw Miles with Chick, Dave, Jack, Airto at the Both/And in San Francisco in the early seventies! Thanks for posting!

“Bye-Bye Blackbird” with Miles and Coltrane at Cafe Bohemia in ’58. Evans heard this later in 70’s and said: “I can’t find myself playing like this, in this groove, with this kind of structure and feeling, anyplace else…”

The kind of blue lineup (minus Cannonball) on four tunes absent from the album!

May 17 seems to have been a highly productive date for Miles down the years. Great to hear the quintet with Bill Evans. Thank you once again for KZbin's greatest channel!

そうでしたね。すみません。あまりにコルトレーンが初めっから調子悪いのでそこでいきなり コメントしてしまいました。エヴァンスのソロまで待てなかった。ほんとごめんなさい。

Jimmy Cobb on drums. The Radio DJ is mistaken.

I would have to agree , perhaps jimmy cobb was depping but philly joe was under contract hence the announcer describing philly joe ? But yeh that’s jimmy cobb , interesting !

@@lesliehayton2929 There actually are no known recordings of Philly Joe and Bill Evans together playing in Miles’ band but there are several instances of Philly JJ being listed as the drummer on a bootleg (and even a Columbia album “jazz at the plaza”) when obviously Cobb.

How do you know it’s not philly joe? Milestones was recorded 6 weeks before this so it seems very plausible to me

1958年にしてはコルトレーンがへたっぴ過ぎる。1955か56年の間違いじゃないでしょうか?
