Listening to Miles Jupp, one gets the idea that he is a floating cloud going through life gently bumping into mountains, buildings, people, cars in a very amiable and pleasant way making the world smile and chuckle. He presents himself as clueless, in the nicest possible way.

Please allow me to also suggest, Stewart Lee, David Mitchell, Steve Coogan, Micky Flanagan, Frankie Boyle and the impossibly upper class Mr Simon Evans ("you may recognise the accent, it is, in fact.......educated") - Flanagan and Boyle are more "working class" style, but very funny and the others I suggest are similar to the three you mention here. Oh, and I expect you will already be familiar with our "national treasure" Mr Stephen Fry, of Q.I. fame.

What a lovely interview which proves to me, what I secretly thought: Miles Jupp is a really humble and many talented actor/human being. I was grinning, from ear to ear, during the Birthday party story, Auditioning for a Bennett Play, and the Cricket India tour stories His list of Movies (and several of them being international "Blockbusters") he has "been in" are indeed quite long👌🏻. Looking on his IMDb page. And I totally understand and hope that there will 'less of it BUT bigger" in his future career. 🤭I remember seeing him in BBC children's TV serie 'Balamory'. Though for the life of me: I don't fully know why I would have been watching?! 🤔 Back in 2002 - having been 31 years old, at the time!!🤫😅 Update: Loved listing to the whole Podcast interview on Spotify. The part where Rob & Miles just start riffing on Miles Jupp having had a whole (though be it cut short🤣) "Trapeze Artis Career" was soooo funny👌🏻😆.

Miles is just one of those people that instantly puts a smile on your face when you see him. I've just watched all 3 seasons of Josh Widdecombe's sitcom "Josh", Miles puts in a appearance on one of the episodes playing a very posh and upright committee meeting manager for the block of flats Josh, Owen and Kate live in with Jack Dee as their landlord. He was great in this episode as was the rest of the cast. If you haven't seen "Josh" give it a few watches, its a grower and subtly funny. Ellis James is brill and Beattie Edmondson is very good too.

I don't think he's exactly ashamed of Balamory, but he's a bit reticent to talk about it, which I never understand. It was a wonderful programne that brought huge amounts of fun to a generation of kids. Ok, maybe not something of deep artistic merit for a budding actor, but definitely nothing to be ashamed of. Same with Rob's shopping channel work. It shows good performers have done their 'apprenticeship' in the business, rather than take shortcuts to the top.

To belittle children's TV presenters does them such a disservice. I adored Derek Griffiths. If he was presenting Playschool I clapped with joy! Brian Cant was fab, too. Later on in life, at about 7 or 8, John Noakes and Valerie Singleton inspired me, on Blue Peter. My niece started to read because of Horrible Histories and I took her to the library to borrow 'the books', which she devoured. (She is now teaching English at A-level) Entertaining children is extremely difficult. Getting preschool children to sit and watch and join in is almost impossible! Showbiz people tend to undervalue panto, too. Fools! Pantomime is a child's first introduction to theatre, ordinarily and is so important, culturally. I am offended by this ageist attitude on behalf of 3-10 year-old me. I went with my niece to an RSC production of Julius Caesar last month. Is that 'worthy' enough? It was great. Enjoyed every minute. But, I wasn't as excited as I was when Derek Griffiths popped up on the screen, back in 1971.

I loved Derek Griffiths as a kid. You mention Horrible Histories and the wonderful cast in that are also the talent behind Ghosts. Childrens tv produces a lot of wonderful writers and actors.

As a confirmed atheist, I can't think of anything which is a greater waste of time than studying divinity. But I can't hold that against Jupp, who is at least doing something useful - entertaining people - and doing it very well.

Why oh why oh why has somebody decided that every few seconds the screen view needs to change. It's so annoying I stopped watching. Which is a shame. Whoever thought that was a good idea, do yourselve a favour and go get a different job. Maybe not in media.....

not going to watch this, just wanted to comment that it's presumptious for him to assume the moniker "brydon." too familiar and try hard for my tastes.
