We're attempting to shop all of the antique and vintage offerings along this year's 400-mile yard sale in Kentucky! Day two takes us to Glasgow, Edmonton and other "major" cities...will we find things our collectors will enjoy at thrifty prices?
We start where we know the answer is yes, in a field outside Hopkinsville where we've always hit pay dirt during this annual event! We're in a small car with hundreds of miles to go, so the Lane fish tray and a differently patterned afghan come with us...but alas, we have to leave the bargain priced buggy seat!
Not to worry, because a lot of other great deals on vintage come our way...three zodiac margarita glasses worth $100 turn up for just $12, the same price we paid for a pair of Nubian head vases in a wild 1950s chartreuse color! A Prohibition preventing mug and a good looking Hyalyn ashtray come with us too, and we're seeing a lot more bargains and old stuff this year than last, which motivates us to want to complete this journey!
We share some tips and tricks of the road here too...what resellers can look for on the tool table when tools aren't your thing, how to prevent people from trying to buy your displays and why we don't tie things together unexpectedly are all topics inspired by our real world experiences on this trip.
What a fun wander through miles of thrifty vintage bargains! We can't wait to see the rest of the sale on day three...

I crochet blankets and the green one would be called a lapghan. It's for people that sit and wish to keep their legs warm such as the elderly in senior homes or a person that is wheelchair bound. It was a pretty design and cost around $30.00-$50.00 in yarn. I hope this helps you. A complete afghan cost upwards of $100.00 in yarn. Crocheting is an expensive hobby!

Oh yes string holders, I remember the time when you put strings around your package to ship them. I recently tried this but the post office said I have to remove the strings because they can get stuck in the sorting machines.

Love the pricing comment. I have been to some estate sales where I could not find one thing to buy. Definitely a waste of time. Now when I recognize unrealistic companies, I pass on them.

I have a cousin that has an old bucket ford that you don't want to be in while it is raining, it fills up. lol He rebuilt it himself and still runs after all these years. Have a great day and safe travels.

A Gizmo!! My new dog's name! It would make a good toy for him only it's almost bigger than he is! I have my mom's blue violin bottle. My dad won it for her throwing baseballs at a carnival. Even though he was a good baseball player, the violin bottle cost him way more than ten bucks - and that was in the 50s. Never trust a Carny.

Good evening, George! Those glass corn cob baking dishes come clean with a little Easy Off oven cleaner 😉 I'd be tempted to put a dowel across the harp, on that 1890s dresser, and make a wash stand out of it. I liked that Victorian silver plate basket. It would've likely had to come home with me. The croquet set would've definitely come home with me! I liked the buggy seat. Mounted to a base, they make a great side bench. I have my great-granddad's corn sheller. My cheese would've slipped completely off my cracker with those bins of old keys 🤪😂 I love those things! Loved that oak wall phone! Always wanted one, but nowhere to put it. Was that a W. C. Fields vase/planter, at the Lucite grapes, or was it something missing a lid? That interested me. There was a stovetop percolator there that I would've had to get...been looking for one of those. There were a lot of things along that sale that caught my eye. Thanks for the take-along!

Hi there! I guess Easy Off? That seemed nearly permanently fused to the glass, just like mother used to burn (Lol, my mom was a great lady but not a great cook). The silver plate basket was handsome and I liked the detail on the inside! Croquet for a collection at that price was worth it, and what a true old looking set. I sold a mounted buggy seat once, and now I look at them with desire when I see them, had we had my van it would've come with me! I think that piece was missing something, so I skipped past it. I forget about practical things like percolators, I've been around this so long that I have about one of every imaginable! Glad you got to go along on a fun highway sale with me.

@@TheAntiqueNomad I've used Easy Off on a lot of old cookware, and it works wonders removing that baked-on crud. Sometimes heating it in the oven, on about 200, can make a huge difference, too. I really liked that old croquet set. I don't want one that looks pristine, and that one had the perfect amount of wear for me. That buggy seat would be great in a foyer. If I had space for one, I'd really like to have one of those old ones.
