I love when they show home videos of the hosts as kids . It humanizes them and makes being host seem like an attainable goal

I've always associated Miles Teller for Whiplash rather than Top Gun: Maverick. I remember watching Top Gun: Maverick and saying "oh hey, that's Andrew."

This not only marks Kenan's 20th season but it also marks the 20th season they have used the Grand Central Terminal set. Because they both debuted in Season 29 in 2003. And I just realized that Cecily Strong wasn't in the intro so that probably makes it 9.

I'm glad they are still letting the hosts have their own monologues rather than being in the background. Miles did a great job here.

I don't think you understand how SNL monologues work. The host ALWAYS has one. The monologue is always written by the SNL writers unless the host is a stand up comedian/returning SNL writer who chooses to write their own (See John Mulaney, Louis CK, Dave Chappelle, Aziz Ansari) the host monologue regardless of lines or whether it's a bit with other cast members, is an integral part of the show and literally has happened for every SNL host and SNL show ever.

@@kengeorgejones6855 That's still the host monologue as written by the SNL writers as 99% of SNL host monologues are. If you think every SNL host that has a good solo monologue is freestyling out there, saying their own jokes and material, you are very much so mistaken.

I hadn't heard of Miles Teller until Top Gun;Maverick, which was a fantastic movie. He was perfectly cast as Goose's son! Very talented. I'll look for him in more movies and shows now. I've watched SNL since the first season, when I was a young teenager

I have loved Miles Teller since he was cast in the remake of Footloose. His character was SO good and he made that movie SO enjoyable for me. I have not seen, or even heard of Top Gun, Maverick, but I will definitely find it and watch it! He is adorable and did a fine job opening for SNL here! So talented, and quite good looking too🙂

Miles Teller was terrific in both Top Gun: Maverick & The Offer. More folks should check out the Offer, such a terrific show, sad that it got shut out at the Emmy Awards.

This episode had a lot of the same energy as last season’s premiere with Owen Wilson. He was energetic and fun, and they put focus on the new members, and that’s exactly what they did with this one.

He probably meant comfortable in a live set with the camera. Movies and TV shows have reshoots. SNL is live, with no wiggle room.

I saw Miles Teller in something many many years ago. He had/has such an interesting look. I always wondered where he went? Then Top Gun, I am glad he is in the spotlight. And what a funny guy❤️
