I did not expect the sequel that have been this good. The classic was an icon for good reason. But rarely are sequels significantly better than originals in pretty much every single way from cinematography, storyline, screenplay, writing, acting (ok to a lesser degree maybe), sound, editing, effects, etc. My wife and I rewatched the original two nights before watching the new one and I must say, once you get passed the nostalgia, there were so many glaring negatives about the first one that did not age well at all. Top gun maverick was truly the sequel that no one expected to be this good, kinda like Mad Max Fury Road was.

I've seen a lot of films in the theater, but I've never seen a packed house erupt in cheers and applause at the end of a movie, like this one. People didn't even rush out to their cars when it was over. It's like everyone stayed behind to let it sink in, what they just saw on the big screen and talk about it with whomever they were with. A very unique experience for sure. It brought laughs, tears, and cheers.

I grew up an Air Force brat, was in high school Marine Corps ROTC and joined the NAVY 2 years after Top Gun in '88. I even saw the counter in the restroom where he propositions Charlie. There's a little plaque on it that mentions Top Gun. Cruise is my favorite actor and I even looked like him back then when I wore my Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses which I bought right after seeing Risky Business. I switched to Ray Ban Aviators after TOP GUN of course, which I still wear today and looked real badass when I became a cop. lol But what I want to say about Cruise is he always gets everything right. He has the most perfect and correct salute of any actor I've ever seen. Pisses me off when I see a stupid salute in a movie. By the way TOP GUN: Maverick came out on my birthday. Happy Birthday to me!!!

this interview.... wow. i really thought they dont do journalism like they used to, and then here comes Sean with a stellar set of interesting questions that highlight the movie, give the actors a chance to have fun/let their personalities shine, and entertain the audience. phenomenal work.

Those twenty minutes made me love Maverick even more. Oh, and I know, there are much more important things about that movie and the movie is a near masterpiece, but how LOVELY is Jennifer Connelly, after all those years.

Saw the movie yesterday at the theatres it was pretty impressive, team work makes a lot of difference, when ppl work together great things are accomplished. It was very emotional throughout. There were no enemy countries just bandits, no political innuendo, a story of a combination of weakness and strength in human nature through the ages.

This was a fantastic movie. I was born in 1996, and the first top gun came out ten years before I was even born. And I'm so glad this movie happened. I saw it in theaters two weeks ago and it was amazing on the big screen. Definitely one of my favorite films to see in theaters in a long time.

OMG at 16:05 I feel like Miles is talking from the perspective of past trauma that was Fant4stic & if it really was I hope that he understands it's really not his fault but the studio, the audience don't blame him for that anymore. He's a damn good actor & I feel like he's been proving it in so many projects, including this one.

I was 29 when I saw Top Gun. Loved it. Sequels are a bit of a hit and miss, so I went in with no expectation. Blown away, what an awesome movie. I think the sequel topped the first one. But the song Take my Breath Away by Berlin feels more epic. Don't get me wrong I think Lady Gaga's song is good too. Don't shoot me, it is just my personal preference. And can I just say, deep respect for Tom Cruise. I think some people find him polarising, but I really like him as an actor and a person. And it is awesome he is doing his own stunts and how super involved he is. Looking forward to the next instalment of Mission Impossible. That trailer looks awesome.

You know I agree with you. Take My Breath is on next level. I missed that too. But now the Gaga song has grown on me and I love it too bits. Its lyrics are so inspirational and so well sung.

Went to the cinema with my dad to see it. Ordered the BD in November, and I've watched it 3 or 4 times again. Loved it so much, it's a wonderful sequel to the original so many years later. These actors did one hell of a job.

The best movie out there. You really have to see the first one to feel the emotions portrayed in the second movie. The connection between the two is astounding. The emotions in the scene where Mavrick is looking in the bar where Rooster is playing the piano is deep. The look of reminiscing and pain in his eyes felt like you were there as Mavrick. The connection between Maverick and Rooster at the end is so heartwarming like Rooster looks at Mavrick like a Dad. Then at the same time Mavrick really feels like he is close to Goose through his son. Don’t get me started on Lady Gaga’s song, Hold my hand. It was perfectly written for Penny and Mavrick. I also Loved One Republic’s song, I Ain’t Worried when they were on the beach. OMG! Best movie ever!

If this film gets snubbed, it's the academy which will look the worse for it. This film does what a movie is supposed to do so well, for so many people, that awards from Hollywood are almost meaningless.

I remember in the beginning of 2021, when the momentum of COVID was really kicking in, nobody was driving on the road, everything closed streets deserted. It felt like the scene from the old movie “Omega Man” . I felt is this it? Are we doomed? I was so excited to see Top Gun Maverick in the theater with your partner next to you, no mask, no 6’ distance. Not only was this a fantastic movie, I think this movie came along at the perfect time to rejuvenate society back to feeling normal again. Thanks Tom, cast and crew members for your outstanding talents.

You always get nervous when they come back to a movie that's such an amazing classic like Top Gun to make a sequel...with the fear that they'll soil the franchise and nostalgia...Top Gun Maverick elevated the name of "Top Gun" to a level I didn't even expect it to go...I've already watched this movie 3 times and there's no question this is a generational classic. The storytelling, acting, action sequences, emotional engagement this film brings out of you...it's a masterpiece!
