I did not expect the sequel that have been this good. The classic was an icon for good reason. But rarely are sequels significantly better than originals in pretty much every single way from cinematography, storyline, screenplay, writing, acting (ok to a lesser degree maybe), sound, editing, effects, etc. My wife and I rewatched the original two nights before watching the new one and I must say, once you get passed the nostalgia, there were so many glaring negatives about the first one that did not age well at all. Top gun maverick was truly the sequel that no one expected to be this good, kinda like Mad Max Fury Road was.

The best movie out there. You really have to see the first one to feel the emotions portrayed in the second movie. The connection between the two is astounding. The emotions in the scene where Mavrick is looking in the bar where Rooster is playing the piano is deep. The look of reminiscing and pain in his eyes felt like you were there as Mavrick. The connection between Maverick and Rooster at the end is so heartwarming like Rooster looks at Mavrick like a Dad. Then at the same time Mavrick really feels like he is close to Goose through his son. Don’t get me started on Lady Gaga’s song, Hold my hand. It was perfectly written for Penny and Mavrick. I also Loved One Republic’s song, I Ain’t Worried when they were on the beach. OMG! Best movie ever!

This movie was awesome!! I am 41 and grew up to the soundtrack from the original movie. One of the few times that the sequel is as good as the first.

The Academy Awards needs to get out of its comfort zone and give a major award to a film like this.
@paulplack4902 жыл бұрын
If this film gets snubbed, it's the academy which will look the worse for it. This film does what a movie is supposed to do so well, for so many people, that awards from Hollywood are almost meaningless.

The Original Top Gun was an iconic movie of its generation. Love it!!! Watched it more than 20X LOL! Top Gun Maverick will be this generation's!!!! It is so so good, fantastic soundtracks, good script that honour the original and yet tells it's own with amazing heart pounding action. You literally felt like you are in the cockpit!!! Gonna watch it again, my third... ☺️

I'm glad my dad brought me to the cinema with him to watch this incredible movie. I mean, I haven't watched the first film cos I was not even born that time so I have no idea what this was about. I even planned to just sleep and let him watch in peace. Lol. But thank god I didn't actually sleep cos this movie was such a banger fr. Not to mention the cinematography! Hands down to all the people involved in the making of this movie! Absolutely the best! Gonna watch it again!!! (Just finished watching the 1st film. Lol.)

I remember in the beginning of 2021, when the momentum of COVID was really kicking in, nobody was driving on the road, everything closed streets deserted. It felt like the scene from the old movie “Omega Man” . I felt is this it? Are we doomed? I was so excited to see Top Gun Maverick in the theater with your partner next to you, no mask, no 6’ distance. Not only was this a fantastic movie, I think this movie came along at the perfect time to rejuvenate society back to feeling normal again. Thanks Tom, cast and crew members for your outstanding talents.

I loved Top Gun when it was released and when Top Gun 2 was released...I cried 😢. I've now seen it at least 5 times and I can see it again and again 👀! When 🧊🪦, I had to paus the movie because I couldn't see through all the tears 💔😭. No movie has touched me like this in a long long time 👍! Love it! 💖💖💖

You always get nervous when they come back to a movie that's such an amazing classic like Top Gun to make a sequel...with the fear that they'll soil the franchise and nostalgia...Top Gun Maverick elevated the name of "Top Gun" to a level I didn't even expect it to go...I've already watched this movie 3 times and there's no question this is a generational classic. The storytelling, acting, action sequences, emotional engagement this film brings out of you...it's a masterpiece!

today has been the fourth time that i have seen maverick (in theaters of course because it’s not out anywhere else) and it definitely is my favorite movie. before watching it i knew i wanted to be in the navy or maybe the marines, but after i watched the movie, i was pretty sure that i wanted to fly for the navy. i still have some years to go before i can even enlist, and i’ll change a lot as a person in that time, but it was just such and experience to see this movie and it really did change my life.
