This game was so good at making the party feel like FRIENDS. Like people who have actually developed strong bonds after going through so much shit together. They understand each other intuitively and all their crazy shit just meshes together. I have no idea how they top this in 7R3. I guess the only thing left at this point would be TRIPLE TECHS!

Yeah except while out just doing stuff in the world, NOBODY fucking says anything or has conversations or interesting back and forths. The only time the crew talk, is during some form of "event" ie. Side quest, chadley poi, or something similar and it's usually ONLY between cloud and the 1 other character that is "relevant" for that sequenve. Just chilling they don't say a fuckin peep and it's boring. Ff15 did it right, with random conversations and interesting tidbits and quips. Similar to god of war, like how mimir will tell stories on a boat or atreus will chat up your party member while just hanging out. It drives me nuts it's missing in this game, it's honestly devastating to me and my enjoyment of the game, especially since they've done it perfectly before with 15. It's not even something that can be fixed with mods once it comes to pc since there's no way to add voicelines that aren't recorded by the va's. It was my biggest problem with the game, and I seriously feel it's the most important thing they missed. People want nothing more in the ff7 universe than to get more character interaction, especially the small stuff that let's their personalities shine. It's saddening.

@@taylon5200They gave us a lot of great interactions….. but in the end I do agree with you. A bit more in the wild outside of battle would be very welcome. Some repeatable lines like “are we there yet?” Some one off conversations that we never hear again. Have Yuffi repeatedly breaking into song and encouraging the others to join in. (Maybe add simple rhythm mechanics to make it gameplay) Add a replayable game of “I spy” where you have to guess & select the landmark the character is thinking of. Would eat up more stuff like this.

If you go frame by frame after that moment you can see that their swords accidentally clashed (the Materia Guardian must have dodged back at the very last moment) hence why Cloud made that "wha-?" look. Also check out the enemy health bar during that moment, they're placed on the opposite side of their heads, and they're not looking at the direction of it.

SOILDER's Honor is easily my favorite, the shoulder tap is amazing. And yeah, the Jenova fight ending felt like the introduction into potential three party member Synergy attacks with that Tifa, Barret, and Cloud attack.

As an OG player, one of the best things i think we're getting in the remake is more time with the characters interacting during the story, because of how much i love these characters. Synergy abilities have to be the best extension of that we could get in the combat. You can tell they put a lot of time into this cause you have moves for every combination of the party to the point where not everybody will even get to see every combo in their playthrough, i certainly made sure to try them all though and loved every minute!

I know synergy attacks aren’t conventional supers, but this really opens the door for more videos like this (like rate the Mystic Artes from the Tales of games! Or rate the S-crafts from the Trails series!) I saw someone joke about a “Rate the synergy” during the livestreams but I thought it was actually an incredible idea. Personally I favored Divine Punishment. It just looks badass for both Aerith and Tifa; no need for any weapon attacks - just Tifa beating the hell out of the enemy with Aerith keeping the shield up.

My favorite part of Mystic Multiplication is the clones Yuffie makes are wooden puppets. All skinny limbed with ball joints and no details to their faces. Like, she COULD make living clones, but she's gonna blow em up at the end, so crash test dummies instead.

Divine Punishment is peak art. Aerith creates a barrier that Tifa hops into and proceeds to Roschach whoever is in it by showing them that she isn't trapped in there with them.... no, they're trapped in there with her!

If there’s one thing you can count on Squaresoft/Squeenix doing really well, it’s really flashy and cool team-up attacks that are just full of character. Kingdom Hearts 2 and 3 (3D to a lesser extent since those are more cookie cutter), Chrono, Intermission and Rebirth, and more recent Dragon Quests. I wish more games did these kinds of things because the only RPGs I can name off the top of my head that does something similar are PoPoLoCrois, the Mario & Luigi series (which that’s the entire premise of the series), Super Mario RPG remake, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (namely Torna the Golden Country, but the base game has some too), and Sea of Stars, the latter being heavily inspired by Chrono Trigger to begin with.

A cool part of Ninja Carbine is that the “bullets” fired from Barret & Yuffie’s shuriken combo are actually kunai blades. But you can’t tell that easily unless you control the 3rd character and watch the Synergy attack from a different angle than the camera work

Mayhem Go Round with Barret and Cait is my absolute favorite, It is THE crowd control move in this game, it'll effectively end any fight with lesser enemies as soon as you use it.
