I feel like the effects go a long way, when you put the focus on them (like in Raging Demon) and it feels like they are overwhelming the opponent in some way, it creates this image of power. It's easy to do that with blood because we know what it means, but yeah it can also be done with effects that represent energy or motion.

While I'll agree that this game is a T rated game, can you honestly tell me that they couldn't reanimate some of the old Ultimates (or fatalities if you want to be a nerd) from KI gold? Especially when they were extremely lacking in the gore department when compared from Mortal Kombat? I understand that the developers don't have the manpower to make these as great as Netherrealm's fatalities, but if they're going to spend the time and resources to make them, they should at least make them worth considering instead of making an ultra more desirable. In the purpose of being constructive, if another KI game is made, and they start out with 5 characters just as before, I believe there should be one Ultimate for one specific character, then they add another when 3 more characters are added. Not only would this save up on time and resources, but it also gives more room for improvement to make them more desirable than a simple ultra.

I dunno man, so many have characters moving super fast and it makes everything look so jank. Glacius stands out to me because it's so chaotic. One's like TJ were nice because it felt like there was some impact and it didn't have an awkward zoom in to his face. Hisako was good because the jerky animation and the sudden close up to her face work for her character.

These are so incredibly bland. There's no impact to anything, there's no sound to sell the effect, it feels like it's running at 2X speed, the backgrounds are pure black. You know what else is T rated? Injustice and the supers there are way better. Now, you might argue that there isn't the same budget, they can't do environments changes like the Flash's timewarp, and fair enough but geez, surely they could have come up with something at least more impactful than this.

KI was worked on very oddly. They released characters one by one each season and they never thought of adding Ultimates to begin with. If I remember correctly, when season 1 was done, people wondered if they were gonna bring back Ultimates since the season 1 story/arcade mode had you fight Shadow Jago. And sometimes if you lose to him, he did an Ultimate. People asked about it and they said they aren't bringing back Ultimates. Obviously they did, eventually and perhaps a thanks for supporting KI, but to a select characters. I'm sure they wanted to do all of them but they knew most, if not all, the Ultimates are lacking in some aspects. And it possibly has to do with budget or possibly something else, more than likely wanting to please Microsoft and keeping the game a T rating so it can sales from both teens and adults. Nonetheless, people still love the Ultimates even they lack certain things. Honestly, I never expected them to add Ultimates but let alone I never expected them to reboot KI. Everyone has their opinions though.

I think the best "fatality" type finishers in any game are the ones that don't just have random hits thrown in that have nothing to do with the rest of the finisher, and that also completely show what the character is about. I'd agree that Hisako has one of the best ones. Kilgore's is great, also.

Some of these characters can DEFINITELY get their ultimate upped next game (if they make one). Feel their potential was missed. Camera angles felt they were last second. The final shots of the character feel like they're idle more than a unique pose for the ultimate. Alot looked goofy for what it's supposed to be. Very silent. I know they're ultimates can be better so it's why it's easier to be critical, especially with a game that's has so much power in it.

Everyone complaining that Max is Biased and rating these too high, remember that *every single* Rate the ____ video is comparing the game against itself. Most of these Ultimates would be 3s at best in other games, but in the context of KI alone, something has to be the best. Yes, his Fulgore bias comes through and he admits it. Yes his Hisako bias comes through but I agree, it's one of the best in the game. And throughout the video he points out that many of them lack that hard impact final hit, that death cry, just something to give it more 'ultimate' impact, and that is likely due to the game's rating and budget. And let's not forget these are his opinions. Yours can totally differ. I see nothing wrong with the way Max rated these.

This is where I wish they would do a Director’s Cut DLC. Have it have the cut content they cut to keep the T rating. Have it to where the content differences like more brutal sounding kills and blood for the vampire is only visible or auditory for those who purchased it when playing online matches. That way those who are “mature” can buy it and get the version of the game the devs intended while keeping those who choose to have the T version from seeing or hearing the difference.
