I can really see Max is really excited for the MvC Collection, And I'm really hyped too, it's been ages since we are able to play these games and we can't afford to get older copies of the same game in older systems that would cost too much money, And I know for sure that he wants to play with players that are new to the game as well to create a bigger fanbase for Marvel, Max, thank you for encouraging players to bring the # FreeMVC2.

The Dreamcast controller support for the NAOMI arcade machine is really worth going into more detail. For those unfamiliar, MvC2 arcade machines literally had two DC controller ports on them (I don't know if any other NAOMI machines did this, though), and while that obviously allowed people to play the arcade machine on pad the real point of it was for the VMU. Essentially, if you had an MvC2 save on your VMU you could convert your play time on the arcade machine into points that you would then spend to unlock characters & new sprite colors. Obviously, you could also get points by playing at home, but I believe playing on the arcade machine gave you more points than playing at home. SNK obviously did it first with the Neo Geo memory card, but that was more for the sake of saving high scores & being able to continue your MVS playthrough on an AES console via the save data. Sega & Nintendo would later do something similar with F-Zero AX, where you could insert a GC memory card with F-Zero GX save data into an AX machine in order to unlock stuff faster, and it was even the only (official) way to unlock the AX tracks in GX.
@EWOODJ5 ай бұрын
You sure about that last part...?
@bandit24k5 ай бұрын
not naomi, but tekken 5 had playstation 2 controller ports for using your controllers on the cab. also, you can unlock ax tracks in gx by getting first on all base game tracks on master difficulty

@TheLandofObscusion5 ай бұрын
@@bandit24k Now that you mention it, I do recall seeing that about unlocking the AX tracks without connecting to AX. However, to be fair, GX is such a brutally difficult game to start with (excellent, but difficult) that connecting to AX was essentially the only way most people would even be able to unlock them.

As a fun fact, the Japanese Dreamcast version tried wayyyy too hard to lean into that arcade/home synergy gimmick, especially since not all versions of the arcade cabinet - even in Japan - had all the interoperability features. Instead of the usual one exp counter, there were three different ones. One was for playing the game, another was for playing the arcade version with your VMU plugged in, and the third one was for online gameplay. And yes, the unlocks look to _all three of them_ as portions of a single key, rather than as alternatives to one another.
