I think Capcom had a part in that, not necessarily their fault cause SNK was always in financial trouble, but Capcom screwed SNK on their royalty cut from SvC Chaos. That's why there is bad blood between the two companies, which will likely make seeing any new ports of these games, not happen.

It cost SNK a lot of money to make, and they already were iffy financially, apparently Capcom screwed SNK and didn't pay them their fair share of what was agreed on. Shortly after that SNK went bankrupt and I'm sure the money Cap didn't get to them, probably would have helped a bit in not going bankrupt again.

I enjoy SvC Chaos more than CvS2 only because SNK did an amazing job with the sprites in that game. Outside of Guile's hair, the SNK renderings of Cap characters was the best they ever looked imo. The Balrog sprite is soooooo good. He moves like an actual boxer does.

I considered this Capcom’s crowning achievement. Capcom literally went all out on this sequel and it shows how much they cared. As a big SNK fan and a Capcom fan (to a lesser degree at the time), this was the game that made me love Capcom fighting with equal vigor. They did so many people right, where I had my doubts with how they handled SNK in the first game. Since they removed a bit too much of the SNK systems that made me love them. Also, at the time, KOF was facing some criticism from the community about their reused sprites. Seeing Capcom come in to do the SNK character sprites anew from scratch, was such a breath of fresh air for the SNK fan community. Still, at this time, I understand Capcom’s decision for why they chose the system in CvS1, because they wanted all the characters to play more akin to the system in super Street Fighter Turbo, to attract more beginners to the game. So I do go back to play that one with the understanding that it is more akin to a spiritual sequel to SSFT, which I was already very adept at. Zoning is so much simpler in that system and I can appreciate working in that system for nostalgia sake. I still found it weird why they went with SSFT in CVS1 as inspiration and not use KOF 94/95 Kyo instead of ‘96 and later Kyo. Since his rushing fist combos pretty much depended on frames of Parry (autoguard) which they didn’t have until CvS2 (though at a bit of a more limited fashion)

Today, I was able to beat the game using only Haohmaru, knowing exactly 2 specials, one of them being a super. What you have to do is have a good notion of the relation between L, M and H attacks, and use the K-groove. This trick is commonly used by players, and I like to call it "the Samurai of Death".

If I'm right then this is the U.S.-based Arcade system. And that's the best system to play this game on. These videos look 10 times better than the other ones out there for this fact alone. See, this game is why I had the feeling that Hibiki would be the character from Last Blade that SamSho had as a guest when they announced a Last Blade character would be joining. The only other game a Last Blade character was in was in NeoGeo Battle Coliseum and that was not played NEAR as much as this game outside of hardcore NeoGeo fans..Hibiki on the other hand is in this game..which is still very popular and so she has a wider group of people that she could draw into SamSho as a guest.
