the plane spotting bit off the 7 story garage is almost impossinel they raised those perforated panels above eye height so u cant see anything from there anymore and until the old concourses are demoed plane spotting from the short ones is hard

Hey there one question! Sooo next month I’m flying from Memphis Tennessee To Denver Colorado! And I’m Age 17 What are the guides or tips to enter the plane ✈️ cause this will be my first time for Domestic flights and first time going to airport!

Awesome, have a wonderful trip! Denver’s a great first place to visit! I traveled solo for the first time when I was 16, and it’s a unique experience! At 17, you shouldn’t have any procedures different than an adult. To travel, you’ll need a government-issued ID and your boarding pass, which you’ll probably just bring up on your phone after you check in. If you’re checking a bag (giving it to the airline to carry for you, to be picked up in Denver), you can also get a pass when you drop your bag off. I recommend arriving at the airport as early as you feel comfortable, but no less than two hours before your flight’s scheduled departure time. When you get dropped off at MEM, you’ll either drop off your bag if you’re checking one, or you’ll go to security. The security screening process is the most stressful part of the airport experience, but it doesn’t have to be hard! Before going through security, make sure all of your loose items are stashed away in your bag. Make sure your pockets are totally empty (even gum wrappers and such) and that you don’t have any forbidden items. You can take most everyday items through security with no issue, but they have special rules regarding liquids, electronics, and weapon-like objects. You can’t carry anything through security that has a sharp edge or a sharp point, even if it’s really small (sewing scissors, Swiss army knife, etc.) Liquids have to be small, three ounces or less, so this means no drinks (empty bottles are OK), no soup, no large cosmetic containers, etc. Electronics can come through with no problem, but if they’re big enough, like a laptop, iPad, or a Switch, you should be ready to take them out of your bag. The first step in your screening is a documents check by a TSA agent. Hop in the shortest security line you see; at Memphis’s airport, they all go the same place. Once you’re next in line, the TSA agent will invite you to approach their podium. They’ll ask for your ID and boarding pass, so have those items ready. If you’re using your phone for your boarding pass, it’s a good idea to turn the brightness on your phone all the way up so their scanners can easily read the QR code. Next, you’ll run your carry-on bags through an x-ray scanner. Take all of your bags, any loose items, and your shoes and put them in the provided plastic bins. You can put several things in one bin, as long as you’re not stacking them. If you have electronics you’re running through, make sure they’re flat with nothing on top of them in the bin. Send your bin down the conveyer belt to get scanned. Try to stay with it as much as you can. Finally, you’ll walk yourself through a scanner. Line up and proceed into the scanner when the TSA agent directs you to. Most will have you hold your hands open above your hand with bent elbows while they scan you. Wait for the TSA agent’s instruction, then exit the scanner. If they select you or your bags for additional screening, don’t worry! You probably just forgot something in your pocket or your bag that the scanner picked up! 😊 Once you’ve got your stuff again, head into the new departure terminal, just opened last year (jealous!) Head to your gate if you want to, but you don’t have to be there until about 30-40 minutes before departure. Get some food, buy a magazine, watch some planes; this is your time! Keep an eye on the departure boards around the terminal. Sometimes, your gate may change suddenly, or there’s a delay to your flight, and you can see it right there. Lots of airlines will text you updates, too. When you’re at your gate, they will call up certain boarding groups at a time (or you will be assigned one on your ticket if you’re flying Southwest Airlines; ask a gate agent for help on this one). Line up when your group is called. To board the plane, you only need your boarding pass. Put your ID away somewhere safe! Once you’re on board, walk down the aisle to your assigned seat (or whatever seat you want, if you’re on Southwest), slide in, and put your bag below the seat in front of you, if it’s small enough, and overhead if it isn’t. Put on your seatbelt, put your phone on airplane mode, listen to crew instructions, and enjoy the ride! Hope this helped!

this is my home airport and when you get a east-west arrival/departure later in the day you can see the 777-f being loaded and that runway goes down the middle of the hub. the new terminal B is way better
