I think I would have updated the home position at the flag pole in case it lost signal and tried to go back to where you started. It would never have made it back there.

Actually this is the west coast of Florida where there are many mangroves growing which discolor the water. The east coast and keys don't have as many are the water is really clear and beautiful. After all this China virus is over you should go visit there. its great! Lots of fun to camp out at the many parks there. Enjoy!

very cool video, just a tip, DO NOT launch from the hood or any other metal surfaces. The compass will calibrate based off of that and not actual conditions. This can lead to drifting and instability while in the air.

Very surprised it did not complain about the steel vehicle before takeoff. Generally you want to avoid taking off from ferrous or magnetic surfaces, as it confuses the mems compass on the drone.

I do hope some sort of active track gets put on this drone. It would be great to have that feature. I have one of these after owning the DJI Phantom 4, Spark, and Mavic 2. Still a really amazing little drone and great battery life as well :).

Another great video with some spectacular views of beautiful Florida. I'm not sure why, but I wasn't entirely sure that flying from the back of the Jeep was a good idea. I guess I thought there would be connection issues. Seems to have worked perfectly though, so, I'm very impressed.

ke4uyp - I love watching videos like these. His first videos he posted a disclaimer that he didn’t know the regulations about LOS. There are three things wrong with this video. Technically since he has a strobe on the Mini, he is now over the 249 gram limit. Did not have line of sight of the aircraft. Then as you pointed out, shouldn’t be flying in that area. I would love to be doing videos like these. With that being said, KZbin views isn’t worth the risk. Reality is, that if people continue to do this, it can ruin the fun for the rest of us 😞.

You should be very careful taking off from the hood of the Jeep.. because of the metal in the hood, it could affect the IMU compass in the Mavic..You always want to try to stay away from any metal when you're setting up and calibrating

When following a moving vehicle, if you lose signal let’s say 3 miles away from the take-off point, when you have been flying for 15 minutes, and you only have 25% battery left, the drone will automatically start the return-to-home, which you cannot cancel it because you lost signal. So now instead of just landing where you really are, he will try to go back to the take-off point 3 miles away, which he won’t be able to because of the low battery, and it will end up landing in a random place between your final location and the take-off point. Is that right? Because if this is correct then we could say that following a moving vehicle is very very dangerous if you lose signal.

You can adjust the home point any time. To answer your question, yes it would head back to his home point, wherever his mark is on the map. It wouldn’t rth to his RC controller. If that’s what you’re asking
