I was so lucky to get the 2023 gr86 last September with almost the exact same set up! It’s base manual with performance dual exhaust, but in dark blue. Absolutely adores me. Can be a bit tiring driving it on the highway for a couple of hours though. Besides that, daily driving is fantastic and pure pleasure. Btw it was my first manual car, hard at first, but once you get through it’s it’s so much fun.

being a broke 21 yo guy I was pretty sad that I probably won't be able to ever experience the 90s-early 2000s JDMs. But, this is good too. Yeah this is good. 20 years later, probably this car would be just as appreciated among enthusiasts as the 90s JDM like the skyline, impreza, supra or lan evo
@dancingswan1484
@dancingswan1484 Жыл бұрын
I spent 15 years saving until I got my first s14 Silvia, now I have a gt86, and tbh, the 86 is way better, heaps more reliable, less expensive repair, does not need many mods, only after owning a few 90s JDMs do I realize how much better newer cars are. Optional traction control, air conditioning, electric windows that work, good seats, fuel efficient, cheap parts, yeah 86 wins

@@dancingswan1484 Can't agree more. Got rid of my last 90s JDM a few months back and don't miss it at all. Newer cars are better in nearly every way apart from the nostalgia. The 86/BRZ was more fun in the twisties than any of the old JDMs for me and you can drive home without the stresses of what's close to breaking.

@pHixiq
@pHixiq Жыл бұрын
@@apoozeo1715 yeah I did consider the IS 350 and stuff but tbh, it's because in terms of the car itself it's basically identical to the 200t. Like how the car drives and looks and stuff. It's definitely faster and more aggressive but it's basically the same car. I want something a bit different. My brother drives a 2020 350 and I've driven it enough to get to that conclusion. RCF is pretty cool as well ! But for that price I'd rather get/work towards a corvette which is what I really want one day.(if we are talking MSRP) and also the same other reason, pretty much the same car and I want something different. And I've never looked into WRX as a car for me. They are cool asf but I've never been a "fan" you know ?? That is500 I want almost as much as a corvette tho I can't even lie

Really love the GR86 and would love to get one, but it's just too bad that Toyota Philippines (as a whole) doesn't seem to mind if this car doesn't sell in the country. It's currently priced at around US$43k (converted from PHP) - single spec, non-negotiable price. Whilst the MX-5 here costs around US$35k for the most basic soft top model. I asked Toyota Philippines for clarification and they couldn't give a straight answer besides "internal marketing research" Considering that the previous 86 sold for the same price as the MX-5 I couldn't consider the GR86/BRZ a great buy. What's worse is non of our automotive "journalists" are calling this out, and instead praising the Toyota branch here because the car is "worth the price". A bunch of corporate simps if you ask me.

I got the BRZ Limited trim last year. It's pretty comfy and it's funny that I often get comments about how I get in and out of it as I'm 6' and the BRZ sits so low to the ground. Honestly I wanted the GR86 in red instead, but Toyota was not doing orders at any dealership in my area so I went to Subaru and they were like "Yeah, sure awesome". They seem to enjoy whenever I bring the car in as, as far as I'm aware, I have the only '22+ BRZ in northwest Louisiana or at least the only one that bought through them (the only Subaru dealership here). Honestly my only complaint with the car is that with the active exhaust sound speaker unplugged I can barely hear my exhaust at all if I'm anywhere near other vehicles. I've attempted to remedy this by getting the MRT Street Race axle back exhaust, but then I learned I have none of the tools needed to install it even with how basic they are...

The 86 and BRZ are MOSTLY the same, but there are notable differences. The BRZ uses aluminum knuckles that are much lighter weight. The BRZ also incorporates new sway bar mounting points and sizes while the 86 kept the same old stuff from last gen. BRZ has a more grip\handling focused while the 86 is more "drifty". The BRZ is actually less harah and more compliant on the road as well. Realistically the BRZ is the better car. It costs less as well.

What I would love to do is buy one of these, keep it stock engine wise and just beat on it and rip around back roads and have fun until the warranty runs out etc, then swap it with an LS3. In the meantime, build up the brakes, wider wheels and other suspension components to prepare it for the engine swap. I'm in the market for a new car and I can't decide between doing that or just buying a higher tier car straight from the beginning, to reduce any potential downsides of having such a modified car later on.

My issue with the gr86 is it’s competition no one talks about, the turbo 4 cylinder Camaro. The Camaro makes 275hp and 290torque. A lot more than the gr86 and the Camaro has an INCREDIBLE chassis this gen. If the Camaro was called anything else, people would go on about how it’s the best sports car bargain in the last 20 years. They are also very similarly priced, the Camaro even being cheaper in some ways. On a track, the Camaro would obliterate the gr 86. That’s what’s stopping me from the GR86

I tried my hardest to get an 86 at MSRP in Phoenix, gave up after 6 months. I ended up ordering a barebones 6 speed turbo Camaro and adore it. If you put any other name on the car it would be a whole different ballgame. Nobody pays attention to them… works for me, I get to slide 3200 lbs around in a world class chassis with turbo noises and get to row my own gears without a markup; as a previous FRS owner, I would say it’s a great alternative.

In that case, chevy should make a different car on the same platform so it would sell more and people wouldn't stray away from it for a V8 option.

GR86/BRZ because lightweight, roomier, RWD platform. It's the only car of it's kind that you can buy new in that price point

Unfortunately Where I live duo to Taxes , the new models costs the equivalent to 65,000 USD , Yes twice as much. So I went for a 2020 previous Gen BRZ , Fantastic car , got it last Thursday . Addictive to drive , you just look for excuses and reasons to go in it , great cars. I did managed to tests drive the new one , Maybe in a few years I'll get a good second hand one :)

I really like the profile of this car, saw an ad or something and it jumped out at me. Reminds me of a sleeker Nissan GT-R. I just wish the name was a noun or something instead of letters and numbers. I'd say weapon, but I may just be drawing a connection to the Die Another Day Aston, whichever V that was.
