Great video. Although not a climber I have been across the Milestone on the Grade 3 scramble in the Ashton book, seconding a guide. We then did the continuation scramble to the North Ridge. I’m guessing this is the same-ish route? I didn’t think it was really a scramble either because it needed that climbers route-finding on a big face and some memory of the moves described in the book, which go totally out of my head. No matter, I was on the end of a tight rope, whereas your video is something else altogether. Great stuff. 👍

This is the Vdiff route. The scramble takes a zigzag to find the easiest terrain between the traditional rock climbing routes. I know what you mean with the route finding! Once you know the line its logical but otherwise it seems like a real wandering odd path to take. This doesn't share any of the scrambling route but crosses over the scramble at belays. Particularly the big grassy bay up top before the chimney. The scramble takes a much more straightforward (but very spikey) groove to the right of the 3rd pitch chimney. It's a lovely scramble though! I like to start heather terrace routes with that and then traverse across the shoulder to the start of the terrace. Great fun! This is definitely not scrambling. It goes a fair way beyond what you find on even 3S scrambles. That said, with very minimal gear and a rope, up this and down the gulley makes for a great afternoons easy rock climbing 😁

I love a solo scramble but Direct Route is way too polished for me. Nice Climb Rhys, love your vids

Thank you! Glad you like them! It is extremely well polished! Much less scary than yr esgair though! I suppose they're at either end of the traffic spectrum. Any route suggestions or video requests are greatly appreciated! I'm always looking for ways to improve. 😃👍
