Military horses escape onto streets of London

There was chaos in central London this morning when a group of military horses bolted after being spooked by a loud noise. One horse was shockingly drenched in blood from a collision.

According to one article an army spokesperson said they were receiving the appropriate medical care. But knowing the army as I do that is not saying much. Very easy for a horse to sustain life threatening injuries. But yeah I hope they are too.

Exactly I'm offended by some of those statements running amok and rampaging horses causing carnage! Saying these horses are highly trained in heavy traffic! No matter how well trained a horse is they are still flight animals! It only takes one to get spooked and it can cause a domino effect! These two were running from what they perceived as danger not causing carnage or running amok! Or rampaging through the streets of London! A bully on the loose could be called running through a town causing mayhem and carnage and running amok when it's running into stores causing damage .. not these horses who were just fleeing what they perceived as danger those reporting need to get Their facts right or learn more about horses before reporting on such unpredictable or unfortunate incidents like this that are inevitable and can happen to the most highly trained horses including police horses ... Anyone who has horses understands they are flight animals and this can happen with ANY horse. That’s why you need to be aware of the horses’ inherent nature to flee and protect itself from danger when they are spooked. Something as simple as an umbrella opening, or a plastic bag blowing on to their legs can send even the best trained horse galloping down the road. There’s no such thing as a “bombproof” horse. Horses’ vision is very different than humans, and they are hardwired to run first and figure out if they’re safe later.

What are you talking about? You clearly know nothing about horses who are very sociable with humans who treat them well. There used to be wild horses all around Britain and Europe, where else I don't know and they would roam in and live around cities, Dublin, for example, not so long ago. Horses have always lived in London and Britain in harmony with humans as transport, you sound so ignorant! They get wonderful care when they're happy living around humans or in stables and live longer and healthier lives. I feel so sorry for the horses! Those Horses get the training, lots of it. The riders however come into this profession without previous knowledge and skills and all have to learn how to mount a horse and to sit it within a short amount of weeks! Documentary had been done on bbc i believe. Short training, hair raising skills when completed such (show) training ending up merely bobbing on the horse with little control. Horse shoes on asphalt is like ice skating, no grip. Adding a rider , good luck! Nasty slips and horse rearing to be found in previous tv celebrations. The traffic needs to be regulated like the one in newmarket. Horses before cars which have to come to a stop. This is pure Negligence. Would like to hear an update on the horses as well as the riders.

The Militrary need to urgently review how they manage equines within the context of modern day challenges. The events earlier this week could have been avoided if a pre-ride reconesance excercise had taken place. This is a must in today's London. The Militrary need to work with the mounted police regarding safety in preparing horses for public duty and roadwork. Hi VIS(ability) PPE was missing from both horses and riders. This may have caught the eye of the construction workers prompting them to stop work whilst the troop past by. The police use PPE effectively for horse and rider. The army needs to realise that safety comes before traditional exercise dress. An outcome from these events must be that Hi VIS PPE is mandatory for roadwork.
