I specifically remember a formation that was 0800. They even had it at the dorm. I showed up at 0750, and I was counted late because the commander decided to show up at 0745, so they determined that I should have been there when he showed up. Actually got paperwork on it. Even when I explained that I was there at the designated time, i was shat upon and told i should have been early.

I remember diminishing timelines. Brigade runs were the worst. Why did we have formation at 0400, when the brigade run starts at 0900?!?! Then there was the time (while in Kuwait) when the entire brigade had to complete SSD. "Within 30 days", turned into 25 days, turned into 18 days, etc until it was 16 hours. 40 hours worth of course material - crammed into 5 hours, which was due before COB tomorrow. It was the biggest cluster f**k I'd ever seen. 6000+ soldiers were trying to get this done, while still contributing to the mission. The MWR was jam-packed for over a week, and couldn't be cleaned. Whoever didn't get theier SSD done soon enough ( even though we had 99% completion rate within 10 days ) had to clean the MWR until the brigade reached 100%. The brigade commander got his done at the end of the 29th day, weeks after everyone else had finished.

It was never the yelling and waking up early that kept me from the military, it was my uncles and grandpa that told me about all the pointless shit they made them do, just to make them do it. Dig a hole, fill it in. Sweep the forest, collect the leaves by color.... mop the rain in the rain.... So accurate 😂 I can remember being on deployment and as we were getting ready to fly back to the States .....even though our flight did not leave until about 1-2pm...we had to get up at 3:30am to get ready for the Chiefs to inspect our barracks....then we went from the barracks to the hanger to hang out for about 7-8 hours 😂 hurry up and wait. ..I think every branch does that!

We just had a situation like this, we were told to be there at 0550, we were supposed to be there by 0710 so we could pick up 1 thing, and move from one room at 0830, and then we did a quick processing and waited to get on the plane at 1300, and then fly for 30 minutes so we can go process real quickly and leave at 1340, while hauling a backpack, sleeping bag, and 2 bags of MOPP gear everywhere, my shoulders feel like someone stabbed them.
