Military Ration Packs and MREs from Around the World. Latvian Field Ration, Menu 7.

In this video, I am in a favourite local woodland to devour another ration pack - this one is a Latvian Field Ration, menu number 7.
As you know, I love the excitement and surprise I get from opening up a sealed military ration pack - they are all so different, some are full of a wide range of high calorie tasty foods to keep a soldier marching all day long, others are less elaborate, but all are good fun and a very convenient. Long lasting food option for trips.

Watching Simon's videos is second nature to us now, like breathing out and breathing in. From the time you showed us your rucksack, built your cedar strip, shared Maggie, won the challenge, took us to Sweden, ate your way through ration packs to showing us the Norfolk Broads and coast, you have paddled, sewed, hiked, eaten, bushed and crafted your way into our hearts. We've very definitely grown accustomed to your face, and you always put a smile on ours :)

Its actually quite soft compared to panzer bread in most rations

Next time you get dry bread try setting it atop your hot beverage to steam it a little. Might help it. Thanks for sharing another ration with us. I love these videos.

Hi Simon, eventually got out to Co Wicklow, Derrybawn mountain for the first time in 30 years. Only managed a day hike couldn't find a place to camp, all bog. Really enjoyed it. Love watching ❤❤.

Eating rice porridge w meat and rye bread together is a true moveton. In Latvia we never combine rye bread with rice or other porridge. Rye bread is great with meat, cheese and of course with honey or jam.

If you're ever stuck for a measuring cup, those folding Kuksa cups are almost exactly 200ml when completely full 😊

I think one thing is overlooked in these mre video reviews is while it is being prepared and consumed you will probably be fighting for your life. And taste freshness or quantity will be the least of your worries. From watching other videos and friends who served, they pick and choose ingredients on base. And just take out with them what they like and leave the things they don't like behind. Also ,when eating one of these in combat your gonna be so hungry you would eat it cold. I think the soldier would be greatful he is alive to eat anything. These are not meant for recreational use. I don't think there is such a thing as gormet MRE. The ones I've had were terrible. But , better than slugs bugs and worms.

Do you know what..? I think everyone just loves these ration pack vids. They're quite short , but I find myself just focusing in to Simon's reaction to all the things he finds inside the sealed package. Like a kid with a lucky bag from the sweet shop in the 1970s. But obviously with a survival in extreme circumstances element. You don't want to be opening up a kid's 70s lucky bag if your a soldier out in the wild . There's a comedy sketch there ?? Maybe ? 😁
