Boffer sparring has done so much for my progress. Can get in thousands of exchanges instead of dozens/hundreds. Also, Combat larp people are surprisingly very high tier fighters.

Yep, it's great for practising form and technique without tiring so quickly.

Always enjoy your video's, Peter. I just started working on a completely new to me sabre system - a living lineage from a Hungarian Hussar drillmaster from WWI. Russ Mitchell is the author of the English language title "Hungarian Hussar Sabre and Fokos Fencing". Russ Mitchell learned from Professor Csaba Hidan, who learned this sabre fencing as a boy from his grandfather, the drillmaster, and his other friends. As such it is not the swordsmanship of the officers, but that of the common cavalry trooper. Both have KZbin channels though Professor Hidan's is in Hungarian and I don't speak even the tiniest amount. Russ Mitchell's is in English language and seems to supplement the book nicely. I'm about halfway through on my first pass now and I have a new practice sabre on the way - should be here Tuesday. YAY! I needed a heavier practice sabre than the very late period, lightweight dueling sabres - needed more curve too ;)

Yeah, I've looked at some of Russ Mitchell's videos on that, though I never had the time to dive into the topic more. Btw half of my family is originally Hungarian and my great-grandfather was a hussar just before and during WWI. I have a great picture of him in uniform.

@@historyandsabre You need to post that picture or put it in a video sometime. Ancestry things like that are great.
