@41:30 his comments are 100% spot on. I was there 2009 thru 2012 as a civilian contractor. First in Uruzgan Province Tarin Kowt for construction of the Afghani Special Forces base, then to Helmand Province Lashkar gah and Marjah for construction of Afghani Police bases in both cities. Very hot (44C) in the summer and cold (0C) in the winters. The thing most civilians do not consider is the heavy armor and gear these soldiers must wear when they're away from their FOB. Tolerating these weather swings is more than trying to say the least. Add the dust always flying about or in the few times there's rain that dust turns to the stickiest mud you can imagine. Dust, high heat, cold, snow, mud all make for a pretty miserable time. When the soldiers are back in the somewhat secure FOB or for the lucky ones, Kandahar Base or Camp Bastion is the only time they can drop their gear and try to relax with pretty good food at mess and relaxed companionship.

The girl who said that the British Army doesn't give up, forgot about the end of the British involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, both times the Iraqis and Afghanistanis were the side that didn't give up. Neither war was successful for the British Army, they left after years without achieving their objectives and lost 600 dead soldiers and thousands of wounded and injured and spending billions for nothing in the end.

They gave up in northern Ireland and basically lost against regular joes with minimal military training and somewhat minimal weaponry compared to what the British had, The IRA didn't give up kept fighting and won, same with the taliban, no matter how Long or how much the British have in Afghan they still won't win against them, it's a war already lost if u ask me ,same with Iraq, isis wouldn't have the rule over syria and Iraq if the British and American had gotten anywhere in that war
