And some of those OG Koreans were ROK Marines who were Vietnam vets and the rest had military training due to conscription.
@MiddleOutdoorsmanСағат бұрын
@@kgjung2310 Unless it's changed over the years, (I was there in the 90s) all Korean men have a mandatory 2 year enlistment. I think the only exception is college, and that was only a delay on enlistment. Gotta remember, they have this thing called a DMZ, and a war that technically never ended. Their military is a lot tougher in standard recruit training than ours too. I remember watching them from a nearby building while they were out on a drill field. Their NCOs take no shit. Physical hazing was allowed I think. While over there, everyone heard of ROK marines, and everyone new not to mess with them. I knew of one that was retired and ran a roach coach. Nice guy, but you knew under that nice demeanor was something that could probably have you eating concrete in 1.5 seconds if he wanted to.

If they get them out at the price point they're projecting they'll sell a ton of them they'll be working rifles not just collector's items. My theory is they're going to import the uppers and small partes then build the lowers here
@krockpotbroccoli65Сағат бұрын
Exactly. The lower is the "firearm" and if that's made here 922r wouldn't apply. So realistically they'll just have to setup a small machine shop with a line of CNC mills and a couple anodizing tanks, hire a bunch of assemblers and boom. And of course, being run by Koreans, it'll be a very lean, efficient operation.

@@donwyoming1936 It depends, the some of the old Daewoos have absurdly high twist rates (1:10 or 1:12) but I've heard they're importing with 1:7 now so it should be as accurate as any other rifle.

I'm kinda excited for them. As a kid in the 80s, i got some trigger time on a K2 before the ban, though at the time I had no idea what I was shooting. Always looked back on it though. As an adult, once i figured out what it was, I couldn't buy one because they couldn't be imported. Major bummer. I also saw them several times while stationed in Korea in the 90s. ROKAF gate guards always had a K1. Daewoo is (was?) a MAJOR corporation in the ROK at the time. They made everything from Cars, to household appliances, to heavy construction equipment.

I have wanted one of these ever since I saw security guys at the airport in Seoul South Korea carrying them back in around 2010. At the airport in South Korea they have some badass looking guys wearing tactical gear walking around making sure nobody tries any funny business. But on local flights in South Korea their TSA are way more chill and friendly. We walked through with our shoes and belts with a cup of coffee. They would just smile bow a little bit and say gamsahabnida, which means thank you. I don't know if it's still like that but it was back then. It's a very nice country, as long as you are on the south side and not the North.

Back in the 80's you would see FNC at all FFL's. I have 2 FNC's and they're awesome firearms. The lower receiver is milled and the upper is stamped. And the select model always resets. Meaning, if you fired in select fire (3 round burst) just one round. And released the trigger. The next trigger pull is a 3 round burst. Whereas, with M4. the next trigger pull would be to finish out the select fire burst.

Not gonna happen. At least, unless they hit a ridiculous sales volume in America. They’re not gonna re-engineer the upper the bolt and the charging handle just to appease the US market unless the demand is freaking crazy.
@청포도알-f3w2 сағат бұрын
You can manually lock the bolt open by pulling the bolt release paddle outward from the gunside and then pulling the charging handle. It's a little awkward if you are used to using an AR-style gun, but it definitely works well. Push to release, pull to lock. It's very simple!
