It is terrifying just how much momentum a speeding train can have, let alone one that's had time to build up speed while going downhill from a mountain *and* with the locomotive running at full-tilt. The shock from an impact against something it can't overcome almost certainly could, at least theoretically, throw the cars around in that manner... it just doesn't because that kind of force usually just causes the train to buckle under its own weight from the force, where it effectively disintegrates into itself or collapses like an accordion being closed.

In regards to the train cars flying through the air, bear in mind that was a train moving as fast along the tracks as it possibly could, coming to a complete stop in like, 3 seconds, losing the majority of its speed instantly due to the impact. That puts tremendous force on the entire length of the train, and trains aren’t solid along their entire length.
@rafidhiyaulhaq1107Ай бұрын
While yes, making a 70+ mph train to a complete stop in a few second will be disasterous, it wouldn't send a whole freight car flying through the air. Yes indeed, there was an example of a train car launched into the air from a collision, the Hinton Train crash is one of them where two trains collide with a combined speed of 100 mph, a hopper car got launched into the air and landing into a passenger car. But even then, this was just one car, the other car just piled into one and another. Incase you haven't realised yet, the train crash in this SFM animation was mostly inspired from the Super 8's, most notably the two containers that collide in mid-air. With this film being directed by Michael Bay, the railroad logic was instantly thrown out of the window once the train crash happens. In other words, its unrealistic.
@FenekkuKitsune29 күн бұрын

Canonically speaking, none of the mercenaries save Soldier are actually idiots. Heavy acts pretty simple, but he has a bachelor's degree in Russian Literature, Spy is basically French James Bond, the Medic is still an accomplished doctor, license or not (remember, he stole a patient's skeleton, and they STILL WOKE UP), Engineer is, well, an engineer capable of constructing automated defense turrets, Demoman makes and fires his own explosives, all while drunk and somehow not killing himself ("One wayward pinch of potassium chlorate, one errant twitch, and KABLOOEY!"), Sniper is a cold and calculating hitman with great respect for his own workmanship, Pyro is... well, either majorly psychotic, on LSD constantly, or being tricked into fighting by his goggles actually making him see those little girl fantasy visions, nobody seems sure on that one. Scout is basically a kid from Boston, so not the brightest bulb in the box, but not a complete idiot either. Soldier, on the other hand, has always been a harebrained idiot, and has only been getting worse since joining the mercenaries' war because he refuses to drink bottled water like everyone else, and instead continues drinking lead-contaminated tap water from the lands they're fighting over.

Half right, the train launching itself would not happen on flat track but going from say 9000 ft elevation to 2000 means it has a lot of time to pick up the speed to crash like that, plus a large main line diesel locomotive can get going at 90 mph so a train going down a 2 percent grade it could potentially get well over 120 mph. For good examples look up cajon pass runaways, 3 in total and one demolished a neighborhood much like that train did to the red team's base.

So the idea that humans lose 90 percent of their heat through the head is a misunderstanding of the actual study. In the 1950's the US Army wanted to test cold weather gear and set up a test where soldiers stood outside in full cold weather gear minus any headwear and pointed a thermal camera at said soldiers. They equipment was 90 percent effective compared to the uncovered head and over the years the story mutated into losing 90 percent of all body heat through the head

I've seen a few reaction videos to this one & there's one thing that no one has mentioned...We all saw Pyro's paint job on the side of the shipping container, but no one seemed to point out that this was the same container that had all of the rubber duckies. This much is confirmed shortly before Scout disarmed the payload; Pyro's duckies were in the first container behind Heavy's both back in the Blue base & again when Scout was aboard the train. The duckies were right behind the payload, so that's how the duckies got so badly burned. I'm fairly certain that other people figured that out but I haven't seen anyone else mention it before me. After Heavy climbed out from under the wreckage, he demonstrates his prowess in Jujutsu on the Spy, which can be defined as "Involuntary Yoga" or "The gentle Art of folding clothes while someone is still wearing them." Let us take a moment to appreciate that this video ended with a cliff-hanger...For Sniper, it's literal.

Fun fact about denying use of rails to enemy combatants: I believe during the American Civil War and WW1, armies would basically create these heavy plows that they'd attach to locomotives and drive them backwards as they retreat through an area. The plows would obliterate the ties connecting the rails together after the locomotive passed over them, rendering the track entirely unusable at a fast rate. It lacked the subtlety of simply removing the spikes, but for denial of service it was undoubtedly effective.

20:30 i've heard of a similar tactic used by environmental activist groups to nonviolently sabotage trains carrying oil tankers. These days, train tracks have sensors to determine whether a length of track has a car on it. By using a standard jumper cable you can get at any autozone, you can clamp two of these sensors together and fool a conductor into thinking that their train is about to collide with another one. If you paint the jumper cable white and hide it in the snow well enough, you can hold up the entire train for hours while they search for the source of the problem.

Please read the comics or listen to the great dub. You'll find some interesting and hilarious character moments. Heavy not actually being a moron and being intelligent and competant. Sniper's thoughts about his job. Pyro having a sucessful company. Murdering bears. A lot of neck snapping. Tom Jones. Baboons.

Sniper is not a normal human, none of the mercs are. If Scout can hit a bear into a mountain, Sniper can shoot while standing
