I've read recently that as Ukraine doesn't have any real structures above brigade structure when these AFU brigades rotate out they strip what would normally be divisional assets from their sector of the front, and this includes vital electronic warfare assets. The AFRF see the lack of 'noise' and spot the unit rotation and hammer the rotating brigades that are without EW assets. After two years this oversight is insane. I can't honestly think of why Ukraine isn't 'brigading' its units into divisions so these assets can stay in place during rotations as time and time again the rotating troops are getting slaughtered. This also means incoming AFU troops have to venture out into the open on the line of combat contact to set up new EW assets, something the AFRF are obviously watching for. Once again these troops get punished. Also if you explore this line of thought it's easy to see that inter-brigade communication is in some places very poor. One AFU brigade falls back and doesn't tell its neighbours leaving them exposed and this has happened so many times the AFRF have sabotage & reconnaissance groups ready to see if this is the situation and get ready to exploit it. There's many other problems that this lack of divisional coherence is failing Ukraine. I tend to point the finger at the US/NATO reorganisation pie-in-the-sky idea the Brigade Combat Team, an all arms 'agile' unit. Of course ducking and weaving doesn't count for much when you simply get shot from all sides by a coherent divisional attack.
