I think that depends on the technology deployed by that armour. Israel has some great and very effective armour and defence mechanisms on its tanks, and that and more are being added to the soon to be manufactured western tanks. And has not been seen on the battlefield for a a very long time.

While this video may be recent, there is not much in the way of air defence capability from Ukraine. Least of all the Sci-Fi image that was shown of them using something so elaborate as that radar and tracking unit. The fact that it appears to be a clear summer day and now the ground is snow covered and frozen provides at least six months of time difference. Most air defence systems and radars have been destroyed with possible exceptions being those around Zelenskii himself. It is not just Russia that has gained the upper hand in drone warfare, Iran and Turkiye have made some big drone game changers. Then look at how far ahead China is with Swarm technology, they are replacing their fireworks with 100s of thousands of drones and orchestrating them to display fireworks on a huge scale. Imagine this if it was transferred to a military purpose. One person controls 25,000 drones and then synchronizes them with others. Drone warfare is here to stay from this scenario and it has frightening potential to escalate way beyond our imagination.

It's not the question of advanced technology. It's the question of motive for fighting. Russia is facing an existential threat from the US led NATO. It has tried everything from attempt to enter the NATO, to urging it to stop expanding to the Russian border. But the US has paid no heed to its appeal so far. The collective West was interested in sibjugating Russia so that they could break it up and plunder its natural resources. But under the leadership of president Putin, Russia has gained considerable power in the last two decades. In addition to this, the Russians, including the Chechnyans have realized the ulterior motive of the US led West. Hence, the Russians are fighting with their all strength to defeat the Western powers in this proxy war the latter has been fighting using the Ukrainians as pawns. Borris Johnson has recently confessed that they are fighting a proxy war against Russia. Hence, Russia has to invent and use whatever they can to win this war.
@maisiemillieКүн бұрын
You have totally misread into the words of Boris Johnson, but I am not surprised. Russia at the start of its full invasion of Ukraine stated that it wanted to put space between it and NATO. Sweden and Finland warned Russia not to do it as they would also feel threatened by Russia. Russia did not take there threats seriously and so both Finland and Sweden joined NATO, moving NATO countries right onto Russia's border. Not a very smart move by Putin was it ?

It is not just Russia that has gained the upper hand in drone warfare, Iran and Turkiye have made some big drone game changers. Then look at how far ahead China is with Swarm technology, they are replacing their fireworks with 100s of thousands of drones and orchestrating them to display fireworks on a huge scale. Imagine this if it was transferred to a military purpose. One person controls 25,000 drones and then synchronizes them with others. Drone warfare is here to stay from this scenario and it has frightening potential to escalate way beyond our imagination.

I believe that the companies that produce military equipment are doing their utmost to make these drones redundant.They quickly found a new cheap and effective weapon that most people had not anticipated, but as with everything else, there will be effective counter-weapons in the future.

Actually how else do you want to transport your soldiers to the combat zone? Tanks are vulnerable, but certainly less than a truck. On foot they got no protection at all beside they are clear visible in infrared even in the night. The solution is another defense layer around these tanks. Drone hunter drones and swift destruction of any artillery by long range loitering munition. Point defenses against anti tank weapons, and certainly a kind of mine radar. Any tank can and will be destroyed in a war. The production numbers are key as well. Germany had in WW 2 a 4:1 ratio in early war even a 7:1 ratio on tank vs tank fights. They still lost because they got outproduced. And so will Ukraine lose as well. Even if they destroy 1000 tanks, Russia will just produce more, like they did in WW2.

Designs need to be revolutionised, first roof armour needs to be angled and smooth similar to side armour. Drones and "plunging" such as the Krasnopol easily defeat the thinner armour of a vehicles roof. You want armour on the battlefield work out how to uniformly armour your vehicle front, side, rear and against aerial attack. It can be done, I worked it out. If Mr P wants it, get in touch. As a bonus I'll tell him how to pump semi solidified oil from rail-tankers in Siberia (cheaply) without using a train length heated shed as the brainless at the EU proposed.

Speaking of graveyards Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began on 24 February 2022, the conflict has left a staggering toll on Russian forces, with Ukrainian defenders continuing to push back against Moscow’s aggression. According to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 25 January 2025, the scale of Russian losses has been immense, reflecting the resilience of Ukrainian resistance. The human toll underscores the intensity and prolonged nature of the conflict, now entering its 35th month. Russia has also suffered massive equipment losses. Ukrainian forces have destroyed or captured: 9,859 tanks, 20,545 armoured fighting vehicles 22,309 artillery systems and 1,263 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). 1,050 anti-aircraft warfare systems The skies have also been costly for Russia, with Ukrainian defenders bringing down 369 planes and 331 helicopters since the start of the war. Meanwhile, 23,213 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been shot down, an increase of 51 within the last day. Russian naval forces have also faced setbacks, losing 28 warships and boats, including the once-flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, the Moskva. Ukrainian forces have even destroyed a Russian submarine, further highlighting the vulnerabilities of the Russian military.

😂These numbers are bigger than whole US army :) From phone recordings I saw a lot of successful attacks, but only few about unsuccessful. When Ukraine shots down UAV (5000$-20000$) with a few air defense rockets (>200 000$ per one) - it is huge LOSS for Ukraine, because people of Ukraine have to pay it. Ukraine has never ever had so much air defense rockets. I saw less than 10 videos about Shot down planes, only 2 times when Russia lost pilot on enemy territory, and these videos were made from Ukraine as a celebration of successful attack. That is impossible Ukraine destroyed more than 15 planes. Maybe 20 with attacks on airfield where the planes were not moving :-D If Ukraine could destroy more than 6 warships then Black see would be full of Americans and British ships. 28 is impossible. Russia had to re-fill ships from other bases from other oceans which would take weeks every time. Your numbers are from fairy-tale.
