The leaders of the EU discussed this in the mid 2000's and most realized that Putin wouldfind it unacceptable but somehow, NATO felt it was ok to try in 2020. They are not bough from China. The only thing Russia buys from China are the minerals to create microchips. all of these drones can be 3D printed. They are cheap and some motors are possibly from China depending on the speed and weight they need to carry. Russia have their own factories too. The reason why the West kept telling this BS about China selling their domestic product is just to make China look bad and avoid making local terrorist understand that productions can be done by anyone who have money. Imagine a terrorist group using suicide bombs by flying over 100 of these cheaply made weapons in cities. This also made China focus on building laser tech for city defense against drones since they are made out of plastic. Russia is also planning to buy some from China since they cannot spend too much on defense, because they are putting all effort to build a new lines of oreshnik.

Our company was involved in the "dense pack" developments, back in the 1960's, and this concept is quite old. It has been used in many other military systems using wire guidance. The only difference is the use of thin optical fiber, which was actually demonstrated decades ago. The Chinese have made the fibers out of a plastic material, supported by aramid or kevlar fibers, similar to what is used in car tires. Very clever engineering, and should have done by some USA companies, if we were even close to being as smart. DEI has killed us.

For heavily armed western tanks, Russia is using the most powerful kamikaze drones in the world - a Lancet 2 & 3, but for IFV's and other combat vehicles and assets, they're mostly use Vandal drones. Sometimes, when they don't have Lancet drones available at frontline do defend their positions from UAF offensive, they improvise and use Vandals to eleminate UAF vehicles by loading them with two RPG shells or with some another bigger and more powerful shell than RPG's shell since Valdals quad-rotors are way more powerful than FPV's thanks to they can carry a way more heavier shells. Vandal is advanced and double expensive version of cheap FPV drones, hardware components are way more better and it's mainly produced for a special force units and operations. Recently, I saw somewhere that Russians were load Vandal with 2 RPG shells to destroy some building or warhouse, so they'll use their improvisations for western assets too, no doubt bout it.

All tanks are very vulnerable from the top. Even weaker explosives can render the tank unusable.

@@kunka592 Your writings is a pure bullshit. Obviously you don't know nothing about tanks. From the top yes, they are, but I was commented a this one video where drone hits Abrams in the front, and in plates of reactive armor. I didn't wrote about top of the Abrams. Reed carefully.
@denniscrork3184 күн бұрын
Was going to comment that the drone operators know exactly where the 'sweet spot' is on MBT's, like the Abrams. They avoid the front & areas of reactive armor, to strike areas like where turret connects to tank itself. Or, they can strike the tracks themselves & cause the track to come off. @@kunka592

Russia already has a collection of M1A1 Abrams which they showcased in May 2024 in Moscow, along with numerous other captured NATO vehicles. Out of the 31 Abrams they received, Russia (as of December 2024) has destroyed 20 of them! Because I guess brams were supposed to change the battlefield... maybe changed it by adding more scrap metal!

They are already working on how to overcome drones. . . They performed well in Ukraine on both sides because it is a plain and open terrain. In conditions such as mountainous forest terrain, he would not give them too much of a role except for observation.
@denxero4 күн бұрын
I can see arguments pointing to the opposite. Drones in mountainous terrain could be even more "game-changery"

EW 'jammers' are quite effective in rendering traditional wireless drones obsolete. Used heavily in the Kursk oblast, they are making Ukrainian drones obsolete. @@fungames24

I'd also make a lot of cheap balloon drones that are so cheap and plentiful that everyone puts them up to listen for drones - because they have cheap mics - but used in-distributed formation (3x) can detect the acoustics of both drones + kinetics (being able to triangulate direction) that will be important in the future.

Cost of a Leopard tank is roughly $10 million. Cost of a drone is $17 thousand. Easy math. Becides Russian army just became more powerful and advanced. Thanks NATO!

How one crosses the power lines? I noticed that most drones attack tanks from the back, that only disables the tank, the second drone is required to destroy it. While the crew escapes and mans another tank. That is inefficient, why not attacking the tanks by hitting the back of a turret which destroys the tank and takes the crew at the same time?
@fungames244 күн бұрын
So they have a tank factory up front like in computer games that keeps pushing out more tanks units?

It just leaves a fiber optic line on top wherever it flies. It's not conductive so it's probably fine.
