I wouldn't even mind a 15 minute time limit at this point just to trigger those group packs. Also for Summit Contests, Ivory Tower needs to disable friends playing together in Summits Contests (as they can Slip-stream for better summit score) and for Summit feats they should put you in solo lobby (Something like in GTA 5 Online how they have solo sessions).

Also slipstream is just broken, it doesn't matter if there's a train in front of you, two is enough because if you've nobody behind you you're just going to lose if there's significant distance between you and them and this can happen due to all kinds of reasons like people ramming you or slamming their car into the wall in front of you etc.

@snipethm10 ай бұрын
I agree with you aside from the resets. Resets may be “fair” since everyone can learn to perform them, but its not something that a racing game needs. If you’re performing resets to avoid difficult or slow corners I think you need take your own advice and play a different game. Why you would play a racing game with the intent to cheese difficult sections of races doesn’t really make sense to me. I mean this respectfully of course, but when I see people using resets thats a clear indication of lack of skill. Sure it takes some skill to reset properly, but can you make this corner? If you lose traction or get stuck or being rammed and you reset, that’s fine because it’s how it means to be used. But if you just crash into the wall and reset without any punishment, it’s really a problem. I’m sure that’s not how the devs want players to play a RACING game. We are racing and should learn how to take corners correctly, instead of throw the car into the wall and just reset. Mistakes should not be rewarded. The devs should set the initial speed to be 0 after reset in order to avoid these intentional resets. The shortcuts also lie on the similar situation. I understand arcade racing game encourages people to take shortcut and that’s how IVT done in playlists and grand race. You can see AI cars take shortcuts in some playlists. I’m totally fine with most of them since it adds lots of joy to the game. But the tremendous shortcuts in recent Summits had just gone too far. It’s not fun to drive a hypercar through 20 secs in forest or on grass. Some of them are just simply against people’s intuition and the experience is not enjoyable.

I disagree with your premise that people who play a racing game and do not want to use resets, based on the principled fact that it destroys the spirit of the designed intent of racing vehicles against other players, have no reason to be upset. By and large the game is about racing vehicles, once it becomes "whomever can remember the gamified system hacks have the advantage" then it undermines the intended spirit of why many people are engaging in the first place. Intended shortcuts I agree with you on, but abusing resets added to the game to help recover after a crash as a racing mechanic I can't agree with. I have just a big of an issue with resets in the summit events as well because I try and race the tracks like it's a legitimate race. Using a system mechanic to game the race for the best time is not why I'm here. I expect to lose to people who have better track knowledge and racing ability, but an equal or lesser racer can "beat" me by breaking the spirt of the games intent and that's trash. I'm fine with intended shortcuts, slimstreaming, using meta cars, and all the other standard racing stuff, but resets as an option for optimal times is not part of racing. I also agree with you that the controller vs steering input absolutly needs to be addressed.

Agree with everything said. I'm not a fan of the reset to gain advantage tactic...tried it a few times but it messed me up more than anything so I really only use it when I'm off track. The real issue with resets is when they don't work correctly. The other day I went off track, reset and it put my car behind a barrier wall off the road. Another time I reset and I was facing the complete wrong way on the track. But listen, I'm 45 with bad eyesight and driving automatic with a keyboard, and am in no way any kind of racing pro. But I still won 6 grand races yesterday alone mostly just because I play the game all the time. Once you learn the routes and some throttle control you ascend to another level. The one thing that really bothers me still is the car transitions. I can be in 1st with 4 people behind me, cross a transition from ST2 to Hypercar, and while I'm waiting 2-3 seconds for my car to switch all 4 of the people behind me are now at 250+mph gapping me while I'm in 5th. No idea why it almost always takes several seconds for mine to switch but it's infuriating.

@bonq225010 ай бұрын
Some of the community’s and my own thoughts and experiences about this. I hope this can provide you with some of the logic behind arguments against your point and bring another issue to light. I would have to disagree on resets and meta. There's a differentiation between resets and shortcuts, shortcuts, like you said are intended to be discovered, learned, and used to provide you with a reward for putting in the extra work, whereas resets were intended to allow players to return to the race after leaving the course or getting stuck, I do not believe IVT envisioned resets as a tool for players to learn and use to get faster, but rather as a way to recover your race after what would have been a race ending crash. While yes increasing your track knowledge and learning resets will yield a reward for your time spent, exactly the way shortcuts do, the obvious differentiation in principle here is using a feature such as shortcuts as intended, vs using a feature like resets in an unintended way. Meta has become a large issue in many games, and I hope motorfest doesn't fall to the same crux. The problem doesn't lie in the fact that some cars will always be faster than others, as is the nature of a racing game. However, the introduction of a meta that objectively outperforms everything else in its class will eventually just lead to power-creep, along with an ever-increasing gap between the top and bottom of a class. As IVT adds faster cars to match the meta and pseudo-balance the game, everything else will be left in the dust. While you argued that complaining about using an objectively slower car when faster ones are usually available (excluding crew2 exclusives) is ridiculous and an excuse, I agree that willingly choosing a slower car when you could use a faster one is quite ridiculous, but I don't think it’s right for a car that you enjoy, to have little to no chance at succeeding as the gap between meta and everything else gradually increases, in what is meant to be a level playing field. I also do not think the argument of "just pick a faster car" is very sound in a game like crew motorfest which provides the unique experience of so many different cars being able to race together, because if everyone applied this logic, the field would simply begin to look like a spec racing series of one make and model instead of mixed and unique cars, and I don't think this the experience most players are hoping for. Something I've personally noticed while driving some of my favorite cars, the 917k and RSR Turbo in racing class. No matter how cleanly you took your racing line, no matter how late you braked in corners or how well you used gutters, the meta could always brake later, could always win the fights in the corners, and pass you with their exit speed. It was rather disappointing knowing you nailed the braking zone and took a gutter cleanly just to see a guy in a Gallardo Super Trofeo pass you around the outside, so I caved and bought the cheapest ticket into the meta, the Camaro SS, it really was a "bruh" kind of experience where I realized you really could just switch your brain off with meta cars and consistently place top 5 or podium just by racing a somewhat clean race The final issue I've seen brought up a few times is clutch; some slow shifting cars can cut down shift times and be significantly faster through the use of a clutch only available to wheel/pedal and keyboard players with bound macros, this in many ways relates to the “wheelmode” issue whereas one specific platform is unable to access a feature that significantly increases performance of many cars.

Imo this is my thoughts on topics like this: - Slipstreaming is a racing thing (As you mentioned) - Shortcuts, man look we had shortcuts for racing games in years, if you complain go play a Motorsport game where no shortcuts are used. - Back on Track, I mean they added Rewind I guess they want to complain about that, and removing them is not gonna make the game better. - TCM is basically a learning curve from the changes they made because people thought the handling was gonna be like the TC2 but got to adjust. - I understand the complaints from Grand Race because 28 races is too much and switching from three different specs is awful to, but again competitive thing. - I think people fail to realize these racing games especially online are competitive, but doesn’t mean cheating needs to be addressed. - It seems like people want the game to be patched more which can ruin the game even more. - We can tell they nerfed some of the cars that was the best in TC2. - PVP needs to be an option instead of Demolition and Grand Race, limiting your players.

If this were an in-game setting available to everyone there would be no problem. shortcuts and slipstream I don't see a problem because it's a normal arcade racing game thing and you just need to practice, but resets are absurd, I've never seen a racing game with a broken mechanic like that, it's not a question of learning how to reset, it's a matter of that the player doesn't need to learn the basics of the racing game which is braking and going around the curve because he can just accelerate and reset, in the same way they ended Wall Riding in TC2 in TCM they should end that too, a solution It would be simple when you reset the car to appear stopped.

@Rehan.DBL_YT10 ай бұрын
I pretty much agree with all of this, about the reset not so much because you’re using a mechanic that’s meant to be used if you lost control or went off track, not to cut a corner, and I don’t use resets, because 1: idk how to, and 2, every time I reset exactly how you do it in your videos, and I get reset at the start of the corner which I don’t get. I also do think Rammers(people who play dirty by pushing you into a wall, a building, etc) should get punished for playing like that. How you may ask? I have a couple ways: 1. Kicked. Lets say the player gets rammed into a wall by a rammer to where the player gets slowed down a LOT, the rammer gets kicked from the race, doesn’t get the rewards, and needs to pay 50k to the game as punishment. If the rammer doesn’t have 50k? It’ll remove the money that he already has, and the rest will compound if he keeps doing it. This will not count for a slight bump unless you spin out, will not count for the first and second corner of the race because those 2 corners are usually chaos and won’t count if you’re cornering with over 5 people, because ramming into each other is just unavoidable. 2. Swapped. If a rammer decides to push a player to where they spin out and all the other stuff, if the player resets, they’ll be back on track at their speed before they were hit into a wall and around the area the rammer was, and the rammer gets reset on the place the player just was, and if he tries to reset, he’ll be reset back at the same spot as where he pushed the player, meaning he’d need to drive back to the track manually, making him lose a ton of placings. The things that didn’t count for the first option, don’t count for this one as well, so being in a big pack of players, the first and second corner, etc. This one is more so to give the rammer a taste of their own medicine.

Sorry Dude, but you are wrong. The game can easily be fair and the whole shortcuts/slip etc is just stupid. There is nothing skill based in it. Overall I don't care if it would affect only some leaderboards, but if you put rewards (like cars) behind such mechanics, it is wrong and will push people away. I started liking the game and was pushed away with the recent bugatti reward where some tracks were just combersome to get all the (cheat features) right. It is enough to have the freakin grind for perf parts/legend/credits for cars. Sad to see such a good Test Drive successor becoming unfun. That said, they can easily fix the problems. Just to be clear, i'm a sim racer playing with the wheel and go to arcade just to relax in a fun cars, but withot sense of fairness, it is just awkward to combe back to.

Racing in the crew franchise has NEVER been fair. In TC1 there were several glitches/exploits/ Reset cut exploits and the famous manual clutch bug. In TC2 we had several issues, some of them fixed, but the main issue there was "macro-shifting" (people macro'ing one button for clutch+shift)........ In TCM, you have a combination of it all. People are macro-shifting (result : faster times due to faster acceleration and downshifts instead of braking); Then there are the reset-cutters (it's not cause it's a mechanic in the game, that it should be abused.) The reset button is there for people who get stuck on rocks or whatever in freedrive. Once you put that in Summit or Grand Race and people are using it to get faster times / better corners, then it's ABUSE and no longer fair in any way. And you are trying to justify that by saying "you can all use it", that's the common excuse for people who like abusing it. Sorry, often you make good points in your videos, but in this one, you missed the ball a few times.

People expect to be pro in 1 day after watching few youtube guides, that’s not how it works. The more you play the better you get. In first month I never been able to finish any grand race, now easily being in top5 most of the time. Play, enjoy, git gut.
@krishyt945610 ай бұрын
Agreed. Initially it began with nfs heat, where I was never the fastest in the heat 3 or heat 5 races and that's when I came across your channel. It helped me build lots of fast cars, as well as how to just play better. About a month ago I finally got crew motorfest, a game I thought I'd really enjoy. Not being a part of the previous games of the franchise, I thought it will be easy to take my nfs skills to crew motorfest. When I started playing the grand races, I was immediately frustrated, because it was so difficult. And so I started watching all your videos and other creators as well, and rather then complaining about it being unfair, I actually learned quite alot. However, I still haven't won a grand race yet, I'm always coming out in the top 10 and maybe sometimes top 5. Alot of learning, but that's what I love about racing games. People think it's "too easy" and no skill required, but actually, racing games require the most patience, skill as well as ability to think quickly. So yes, I agree with you completely.

I get 1st occasionally and place podium often in grand races without using meta cars 90% of the time and i still think it’s unfair that we don’t have a toggle for controller players for “wheel mode”. The resets and loss the of sound in the XBSX in the grand races makes annoying. I think that the resets are just a cheating mechanism when exploited just like the wheel mode some people are using to be in the nonsense leaderboards. The performance in the PC compared to the consoles has been an issue for ALL RACING GAMES. I am not really sure if some PC players are increasing the FPS in their PC like they do in FH to gain an advantage. Anyway, I think that we should have 1 more option of cross play to CONSOLES ONLY. We only have 2, cross play (XB, PS and PC) and not cross play (PS), (XB), (PC) only. We need a console cross play option (PS, XB) only. Till this day I haven't played the grand race with only XB players because there isn't anyone in the lobby when the cross play off, I have only played in cross play because that is the only way to race in the grand race. This is the only racing game that I know that the resets are used as an advantage. I only saw a reset 1 time in NFS Unbound when a person crashed in front of me and still managed to be in front of me, other than that, I only see the reset done in TCM.

To fix resets at checkpoints exploit, disable Reset ability for 3-5 seconds starting just before the checkpoint since you can start your reset before the checkpoint but once you go through it before the reset ability inputs it spawns you in the checkpoint. Divide live summits to Platform rather than Crossplatform so more people are able to achieve the rewards. Also improve rewards. Rather than a previous TC2 Summit car, add a new car and a TC2 car so if you already have the TC2 car, you get money, if you don't have it then you get 2 cars at once. There isn't much that can be done to improve console performance as the consoles are limited to what they are built with and PC can be custom built to have far better performance. Only fix for PC vs Console is remove crossplay for PC. Wheel vs Controller vs Keyboard is again something that can only be fixed by dividing players and leaderboards by input device. All of this is just something I don't think IVT will EVER do. They will never balance anything for the players because the biggest voices are crying about the dumbest and most irrelevant things like "pretty lights and sounds" Most people complaining about losing in PvP is purely a skill difference and knowledge difference. I have friends that acknowledge they are slower because they don't take proper racing lines like myself and some people don't even understand or comprehend what to do for taking racing lines. You have to specifically explain it and tell them what to do but once you stop, they go back to messing up. They can't retain the information for some reason. Shortcuts in Motorfest is for min-maxing times. It can really be a 1 second difference or 5 second difference but so far I haven't seen any MAJOR time gaps from cuts and if you drive good enough can catch up with slip from others and negate the affects of short cuts in PvP. Disable slipstreaming in PvP. Simple Meta should NOT exist. Meta is really just things in the game made to cater to low skill/bad players to give them something to use to feel better and do better. Being skilled and using a "meta" is just lame and boring. I'd rather outrun a Huracan using a Camaro or Challenger that understeers and slides out but I can control it better than the guy in the Huracan can with the best tune on KZbin or a guy on wheel. I'll never forget that hate message 🤣🤣

great video, first of all. im one of the players who, at first when i started playing seen how unfair the game is. i come from games like gran turismo, where precision is key to victory. ive played nfs games for a fun arcade style game, and figured crew would be similar. ive gotten better at grand races by learning to drive terribly, imo. wallriding, resets, and tuning. before, id finish 10th at best, now i finish in the single digits. the one thing that helped me most tho, was wreckfest. yes, the demo derby game. the crew plays like wreckfest. its everyones goal to ram, shove, and divebomb each other in this game. so i adjusted my usual "gentleman driver" style of playing to more of a patient, use your opponents as a corner buffer style. i still wont go out of my way to mess someone up, ut if its between me, them, and a position, im going to take that position. as far as slipstreaming goes? i use tf out of it, and i get to use my skills learned from many years of gt racing. if anyone sees me, (psychic octopus9) on the track, know you can pass me without worry of being shoved into the wall, or other obstacle. i will retaliate, but i wont initiate dirty driving. as far as op, or meta cars? ive proven that they are not neccesary. sure, they help, but ive used the raptor, silverado, even the bettle and came out in a good position. it comes down to luck. skill has a small part to play in your victory. enough rambling, ive got races to win.

Agree on everything minus resets. The entire point of a reset is that you messed up. You shouldn’t ever be put in an advantageous situation after using one. There simply isn’t an excuse for that or logic point that makes sense. If we’re going to suggest that people need to just get good… then… you should get good and learn how to take corners not spam resets. There’s actually an easy way to fix this. Upon resetting your top speed is limited and you can’t not draft or be drafted for a bla bla bla amount of time.

Indeed, many seek excuses. Personally, I use a controller on PS5 and manage podium finishes without issue. I've even experimented with a wheel and still clinched podium spots. Consistently achieving platinum in every summit reinforces the notion that improvement within the game is attainable. The perceived discrepancy in quality appears minor to me. It often seems like folks enjoy finding fault rather than embracing the experience. There's always room for improvement, but if it's unsettling, perhaps exploring a different game could offer a more satisfying adventure.

On the surface, the game's systems are built with fairness in mind, and balanced based in player investment. But when we start looking at the -off the curve- and borderline illegal tactics some use, we reach the tipping point. I think the wheel mode is the worse of those tactics.

@@hueitor1748 while i agree that wheelmode is an unfair advantage, wheelmode provides the same advantage for a controller that you would get from a using a wheel. so the real problem is the gap between wheel and controller. all wheel mode does is close that gap for the competitive controller players and wheel players. hopefully this gets addressed as console players have no other choice but to purchase an actual wheel in order to compete (if they have the similar skill level to top players)

I didn't ever see people complain about legit shortcuts, especially those that require skill to actually be beneficial. You're welcome to be wrong, but stupid checkpoint placement and OP reset mechanic IS NOT the game's DNA. Over TC2 lifetime the devs added a lot of checkpoints, eliminating a lot of "shortcuts", so even they clearly disagree with you. All that aside, it's baffling to me how you can defend "crashing full speed into a wall, triggering a reset and gaining time" as a legit game mechanic that people should embrace. Today iv podiumed a handful of times and my average placement is around top 10. Learning your cars and the track is 100% the biggest hill you have to climb over, the next one is realizing that your competitors can help you. Baiting an aggressive racer to wipe out, slipstreaming someone that’s clearly catching speed, shit you can use players that hit the walls to prevent speed loss on your own turns. Shortcuts are super fine. They've been in racing games since forever and it falls into a map knowledge category... but the resets on the other hand I have to disagree... it's an abuse of a game mechanic. Reseting your car in order to skip more difficult corners... that does not belong in a racing game. Just as the console performance and the wheel mod, this should be addressed as well. You can argue "It's a game mechanic everybody can use so you are putting yourself in a disadvantage not abusing it" but unlike shortcuts or slipstreaming it's clearly not used the way developers intended. The very fact that it's controversial and we are having a conversations about it suggests the resets are not contributing to the overall satisfaction with the game. Dividing the player base is never a good idea. I mean... I use it... but I hate it

Playing with a variety of cars was one of the biggest arguments for buying the game and this has been the case since the start of the franchise. Seeing 60%-70% of the players driving the huracan for the millionth time is just super boring to me. The point I am making is that currently ubisoft has a poor balancing, why can I buy 600 Cars when I have to use 4 specific cars again and again to win races more frequently and have fun. Its just poor balancing and it kills a big part of the game from my perspective.

I have experienced myself grinding for that little better score to get, but not beeing able to, because of glitches in the game. For instance, if the highest speed you can reach in the game (according to my tests so far) with one of the fastest cars is 307 mph (495 kmh) how is it possible that some can reach 434 mph (over 700 kmh) by using glitches, hacks ot whatever? Is it ok for those who want to play "fair" to not get higher rankings because of that? I used to spend hours in trying to get platin rewards but not beeing able to get them because of this problem. This is just one of the "problems" in this game, not to mention the community and so on.

The shortcuts are working bc there's no penalty in place and a strong nitro just lets you smack through everything... Single players are at a disadvantage. As far as parts and fast cars if you want better cars and parts race and work for it.

I'm absolutely fine with towing (it's another meaning for slipstream), and shortcuts (but it can be backfire sometimes), but what I'm not fine with is the reset abusers
