Ok so I germinated & grew sunflowers indoors, then transplanted from the paper cups to 7gal planting bags. I have 3 bags w/ 20 or so in each bag. I know that’s too many, so I guess I should transplant them again in a few weeks? The plants are still pretty small. I’ll try to follow the distance apart rule & plant in a larger planter.

Hi Piccoli Carini!! 👋🏼👋🏼 Thank you for watching and that's a lot of sunflowers. They are going to be soooo beautiful in full bloom a little later this year. Nice! Yes, sunflowers need at least 8-12 inches between each other. Some might need a little more, depending on the specific cultivar. A good resource for us, when we don't know or it's not on the seed packet, is to go to EdenBrothers.com and try to find the specific seed there or something close to it. Once we find what we want, we scroll down the page where there are tabs, one saying "planting information". If you click that, it should show you the specific seed planting depth and spacing needed. Here is a link to one of our fave sunflowers, The Ring of Fire: www.edenbrothers.com/products/ring-of-fire-sunflower-seeds All it's info is just down the page. Hope this helps and have fun transplanting your sunflowers! 👍🏼👍🏼

I planted seeds for black cherry tomato, Turkish, Cambodian, white, and Black Beauty eggplants, and Japanese cucumber a couple of months ago, and nearly all have now germinated. These are all eventually going in my three raised beds, so I don’t have room for too many. This year, however, I finally got wise (based on last year’s mistake) and only planted about half of the seeds that I bought. The rest I’ll plant next year, and hopefully they’ll germinate and save me some money. I also planted some ‘Moonlight’ grevillea seeds that I collected last fall, but I’ve read that grevillea seeds can take up to a year to germinate, so this looks more like a long term project (and a test of my patience)…

I did some winter sowing just to try it out. 8 out of 11 germinated. The other 3 just produced algae. It’s an interesting way of seeding. Definitely will do more in January.

For me the best results were Lychnis chalcedonica, Lychnis coronaria, regular Echinacea purpurea, and Bidens. Worse results were Liatris, (3 varieties), Agastache (4 var.), and Asclepias (3 species).
