Hey man I used to love watching your herping vids a decade ago, part of the subliminal reason I just moved to Colorado this year. Glad to see you're still around!

@@aquacrystal1122 HA! We've herped KS many times, def a great place in the spring for all kinds of snakes. Soooo many it's ridiculous. In terms of milks in a small area, CO still wins that one.

@@SluggerNugget WoW! Don't blame me for that snow out there. CO is a great place actually.

Smetlogik In diversity or a single species? There are spots here in MA where there are 4-5 Eastern garter snakes within 5 feet of each other in multiple places (not during the breeding season) If it’s diversity, then Colorado definitely wins. But from your vids, I’ve noticed mainly milks. Love your vids :D Can’t wait for more AZ vids

I know you guys don’t keep anything but you need to learn how to preserve specimens with locality data AND you need to collect DNA. The areas and species you collect; their DNA would solve a lot of nomenclature /taxonomy issues

Interesting .. I grew up in Kansas, Pratt and Russell counties. Live in San Diego now. Always nice to see the old homeland. My reptile and amphibian experiences were mostly turtles, salamanders and crawdads. Had a really nice adventure after some heavy rains.. Small ponds developed and provided what we called 'fairy shrimp'. Looked like a cross between a turtle and a shrimp. Really strange creatures. Thanks for this view of Kansas.

Loved how the collared lizard turned back to defend itself and jumped at your finger. The texture of their skin is also so fine. The best skin though has to go to the Gila monster. They feel the best of any lizard! But dangerous.

Some of those skinks are more badass than they appear...I had a sun skink about the same size and body shape as the skinks in the video, and I used to feed it adult anoles...and the hunt down and eating process was vicious for such a seemingly timid and scared animal.

So I’m relatively new here. What does lifer mean?
@dprivetts4 жыл бұрын
alifeoncechris an individual finding a specific species/subspecies for the “first time in their life”. Example: if you found your first Scarlet Kingsnake that would be your “lifer” Scarlet King. Or like in Noah’s last OK video when he said one of his 3 lifers for the area was a Dusky Hognose, that meant he hasn’t found one yet. So if he did, that first specimen would be his lifer Dusky Hog.
@dprivetts4 жыл бұрын
Good question tho, for sure. When I got back into Herping 5 years ago or so there were all these new terms/field herping slang I had to catch up with that I had never heard back 20 years prior. “Lifer”, “insitu”, “DOR”, amongst many others.
@alifeoncechris4 жыл бұрын
David Privetts thanks man! That’s what I assumed but I thought it was just better to ask. I got back into herping last summer with my daughter. We don’t have a lot of species in our state but still have a couple to find.
