In this video I took a road trip to photograph the Milky Way in the desert. I decided I needed to escape the cloudy weather in Mississippi. I show what it's like to plan an astrophotography trip and what gear to bring. I also cover how to photograph the Milky Way. I hope I will visit United States at least once in my life and I don't even care about a single city. I just want to see the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Yellowstone, Mt Rainier.. I don't know. To me its the most beautiful country ever. You have desert, you have mountains, you have forests, you have green infinite fields, you have the ocean, everything. What a great land. I always admire people who travels through the States. I'm from Turkey, also geographically one of the most beautiful countries ever but America is different..

Great video Walt. I was there at the same time. Flew from UK for Monument Valley and the 5 big national parks. Got some milky-way images at Monument Valley on 18th May and Zion on 23rd. Lots of clouds most nights, but when it’s clear as you say gives you time to marvel and think. Clear skies, Ian

I hope you can do a video on more of a process of going out...I know you kinda touched on what to bring but idk about the rest of everyone on here but it is my dream to just drive out west and get lost in the world, but im nervous about going on property im not supposed at, being on someone elses property, etc... Also maybe a budget plan? How much do you on average spend on these trips? I am super young so any information is well appreciated!
@deltaastrophotography
@deltaastrophotography Жыл бұрын
First of all I saved up for a long time for this trip. This is not something I can do anytime I want. I used a rental vehicle so that cost me around $500 for a week. Gas was about $80 a day while I was driving a lot. Once I got settled I wasn't spending much on gas at all. I think I spent around $400 on gas for the entire trip. I slept in rest stops or camped in BLM land, so I never paid a dime for a place to stay. You should totally get the Campendium app and pay the $50 yearly fee so you can see the BLM maps. BLM land is free public land that you can stay on but it's usually found in the west. Like west of Texas. Campendium also shows you campsites in national parks, rest stops, and forests. Please hit me up on Instagram if you want advice or help with anything!
