Nice work sir, glad you retained the jacking point, I know people knock them but as long as they are not rusty I think it amazing. They are positioned in that sweet spot so perfect for what they are designed for, changing wheels.

Really coming along great! Not looking forward to doing this to mine this spring. Thank you so much for including so much detail, living in the States means that these cars aren't common enough for much literature on how they go together. Shops that specialize on this side of the pond want an arm and at least both legs to restore them. Doing it myself is my only option to afford one, so your videos are a HUGE help.

I bet you've answered this before but I've searched a few comments and can't see it. Please can you tell the settings you use on your welder for mini panels? I have a mini to weld and the exact same welder so it would really help! Thanks for all the fantastic videos.

@@classicminiworkshop Is the zinc better than the copper?

@@kevbarry7453 I'm not sure, to be honest. Opinions seem divided. I've only ever used Zinc, I will have to give copper a try sometime.

Spot welder for £70, absolute bargain, would love one at that price.
@paulrobinson35283 жыл бұрын
3rd..............getting there again lol. Can't beat a bit of metal fume fever lol and these days it would be called Covid lol. Its the zinc gases making it look like you are low on gas pressure as the gas is not shielding the arc correctly. I used to be a coded welder many years ago and was taught to have the welding areas as clean as possible so the use of zinc primer for me is a no no. I don't use a hammer to tap it down when its close to what its being welded to, , i just use the end of the shield to push it and then pull the trigger. The earth clamp does not need to be right next to or be part of the metal you are welding. Electricity travels at almost the speed of light so whether or not the clamp is next to the work or the clamp is on the rear valance and your welding the front panel make absolutely no difference at all. During my mk1 resto the clamp was always on the boot lip. As long has it has a good earth to the shell, it won't be a problem. The guys at Bull motif are great, really helpful.
@classicminiworkshop3 жыл бұрын
I not a big fan of zinc primer, it certainly seems to upset the weld a bit. Good tip about using the torch to push the panel.
@paulrobinson35283 жыл бұрын
@@classicminiworkshop Just spray the zinc primer around the joints after welding the get some nice old fashioned thick underseal on it pmsl.
