Another brilliant episode! Mike Baron original Punisher run at Marvel was classic !!

Mike's run on Punisher was the best take pre Garth. I'm sure he took inspiration from much of the elements Mike used. Also LOVED Badger - "Whadda yoo, a lawyer?"

Great interview! And what a great talent, Mike Baron is. His Nexus stories grabbed me as a lapsed comic reader and yanked me back in! And anyone who is a fan of Carl Barks is number one in my book

Baron's Nexus is no ordinary superhero comic book. There are thought provoking ideas expressed in that series that you won't find anywhere else in comics. Ideas about representative government, political asylum, social compacts, religious tolerance & racial identity politics etc.And it's never a lecture, it's an entertaining space opera with a unique premise that will keep you reading for well over 100 issues. I think it is one the best comics of all time. Mike's new stuff is great. But if you want to know why Mike Baron is a legend, start at the beginning of Nexus. Brilliant stuff.

Nexus is the greatest comic of the 80s. That was a monumental achievement that needs more recognition.

I got into US comics starting with Mike‘s Punisher! His writing and the art of the book was the reason for me to collect the US stuff. And I am so glad I did back then. Best stuff ever and we all can see today how precious this time was and how fast quality goes down. Comics today suck for 99% of the time.

Great interview. Mike Baron & you - Mark Millar - are world class. I'm currently in the midst of pitching my outer space parody comic series/limited-series STARCREEP. I have 3-5 other comics being worked on right now by different artists - that I wrote. There's never a dull moment. 2025 may be an outstanding year. *B. L. Blankenship

Great interview Mark! I was wondering if you knew of a Marvel UK artist named Jeff Aclin? Jeff was the penciler for the cover of Marvel Spotlight #1 with Captain Mar-vell. Really good artist with a John Buscema feel.

Mr. Millar......... my life is a complete wreck, isn't it? It was just like, you don't even think about it in the moment, you're just focusing on what you have to do to keep going......

Mike Baron's first five issues of FLASH (1-4 + Annual 1) are still some of the best Wally West stories ever. But you could tell at the time that he was running out of ideas because nearly every story after those (except for the introduction of Chunk, who was quite an original character) was "Flash vs. this or that new speedster". Still, he gave the new Flash quite a launch. One tip for Mike, though: Maybe don't explain your comic's plot in too fine detail before you actually have a chance to sell the book.
