I know right! I was born into the Guna tribe, located in the Guna Yala that surrounds the jungles Panama. For us killing our food and being grateful of it was a way of life, and was often our first experience with death as young children. It wasn't until I attended university in the states that I discovered such separation between people and how they view food.

They are complaining about things in a third world country like food allergies, specifically gluten, I raised. 30 chickens last year and Slaughtered them all myself by hand. I especially cannot stand people who like to complain about little things. Especially that they spent $5,000 for The Institute and feel like they're not getting enough food. I like this series and have been glued to it ever since it premiered. It just shows me the truth and the reality that my millennial generation Has lost touch with where their food comes from and what life is like in other countries. So I'm glad to see them trying to ReDiscover their Roots.

Everyone knows where food comes from. But they just turn a blind eye because it’s easier. Or what I do, switching to a properly treated and farmed meat rather than mass produced. It does become more expensive but you just have to treat meat as not an everyday thing.

I saw many of these people upset at how the goat was mistreated before it was slaughtered, and I agreed with them. I was prepared to mock them for not knowing where meat comes from, but I found myself more angry at the guy who didn’t bother to research how to humanely keep a goat he wanted to ritually slaughter for his own selfish reasons (to “connect with his food”) than with those who got upset at being forced to witness this. That goat was being starved, was limping, was suffering. Then this selfish guy went surfing while others had to step up to make the decision to humanely euthanize this poor animal. This isn’t how hunters or farmers behave. This is how selfish self indulgent people who are out of touch behave. That guy was far worse than anyone else in the group. The so called leaders in this place are far worse than the kids they’re misleading. And everyone takes the lazy view of blaming the kids who are rightfully upset at how nightmarishly and ridiculously this whole thing has been handled.

I think everyone who eats meat should have to do this. I’m a meat eater. I’ve done it. It will give those who haven’t done it a new perspective. It’s the make it or break it situation for some.

@Kekela I won't deny that, but of the people that have watched this video, a majority have the means to thrive on a plant based diet. Necessity justifies many things, but when we're not in times of necessity we need to put ethics first.

@Kekela Could you provide a source to back up your claims? Here is a source to a study Oxford University conducted on over 40,000 farms, both factory and local farms: www.ox.ac.uk/news/2018-06-01-new-estimates-environmental-cost-food Notice that the metrics are per 100 grams of protein. Beef, dairy, shellfish, and eggs, all rank highest in ocean acidification and eutrophication, land use and carbon output - no matter how they're produced.
