I know right! I was born into the Guna tribe, located in the Guna Yala that surrounds the jungles Panama. For us killing our food and being grateful of it was a way of life, and was often our first experience with death as young children. It wasn't until I attended university in the states that I discovered such separation between people and how they view food.

I'm not saying that they aren't try to better themselves or better the world through what they're doing, It's just that. They are complaining about things in a third world country like food allergies, specifically gluten, I raised. 30 chickens last year and Slaughtered them all myself by hand. I especially cannot stand people who like to complain about little things. Especially that they spent $5,000 for The Institute and feel like they're not getting enough food. I like this series and have been glued to it ever since it premiered. It just shows me the truth and the reality that my millennial generation Has lost touch with where their food comes from and what life is like in other countries. So I'm glad to see them trying to ReDiscover their Roots.

@BobbyTMF
@BobbyTMF 4 жыл бұрын
Everyone knows where food comes from. But they just turn a blind eye because it’s easier. I think if everyone actually made the effort to see where and how our meat is treated before we eat it a lot more people would be eating meat free or less meat diets. Or what I do, switching to a properly treated and farmed meat rather than mass produced. It does become more expensive but you just have to treat meat as not an everyday thing.

I saw many of these people upset at how the goat was mistreated before it was slaughtered, and I agreed with them. I was prepared to mock them for not knowing where meat comes from, but I found myself more angry at the guy who didn’t bother to research how to humanely keep a goat he wanted to ritually slaughter for his own selfish reasons (to “connect with his food”) than with those who got upset at being forced to witness this. That goat was being starved, was limping, was suffering. Then this selfish guy went surfing while others had to step up to make the decision to humanely euthanize this poor animal. This isn’t how hunters or farmers behave. This is how selfish self indulgent people who are out of touch behave. That guy was far worse than anyone else in the group. The so called leaders in this place are far worse than the kids they’re misleading. And everyone takes the lazy view of blaming the kids who are rightfully upset at how nightmarishly and ridiculously this whole thing has been handled.

I grew up helping my grandfather, dad and uncles slaughtering a sheep every other gathering.... it’s crazy that most people will see a goat slaughtered and not even comprehend the fact that there are commercial farms that do way worse to provide the meets that we eat day to day.
@goodgrief888
@goodgrief888 2 жыл бұрын
Just because it’s happening daily doesn’t make it right. This goat was abused before it was slaughtered, and that was unnecessary and all of these idealistic young people had to witness it and forced to be involved in it because of one selfish narcissistic selfish persons idea of making them watch his ritualistic slaughter. He didn’t bother to learn how to even feed or take care of the animal. Very evil.

I'll be curious to see the impact these guys make on the environment, when the show is over, or they just plain give up and leave. Who knows, maybe we're looking at the next jungle metropolis. Idk.. 🏭🚦⛽

That actually was a awesome way to dispatch a chicken. I use a tree stump with wire on it. The wire goes around the chicken neck and the axe comes out. The way we've been doing it for two generations. But this way is awesome as well!!

This is awesome. It's sad no one was clapping when the sheep was slaughtered, it should have been a bonding experience but these "girly" people are ridiculous, they just stand there crying, after eating meat they're entire life....

It's a feature of the modern animal agriculture system to remain as far removed from what they saw and the products that come of it - its natural to feel empathy for the animal. Why would anyone clap? Surely theres a more effective way to bond than over the unnecessarily slaughtered body of a goat?

The entitlement with that kid and the goat. You get what you ask for and agree to take on and then say “I don’t know what to feed a goat” blaming others for your lack of self awareness. And just disappear for a week and expect people to take care of it for you and again blame people when they’re forced to take over the process. Just a hippie festival kid that can’t admit he’s in way over his head

In the first season he said he was 2.5 million in debt. But I suspect now he lost a 2 million investment promise that the investors never handed over to him, and that he took a lot of money from friends and family by using the promise of profits for getting in on his original project which was to build a amazon resort. Now he made a student fee resort thing lol

@Kekela Could you provide a source to back up your claims? Here is a source to a study Oxford University conducted on over 40,000 farms, both factory and local farms: www.ox.ac.uk/news/2018-06-01-new-estimates-environmental-cost-food Notice that the metrics are per 100 grams of protein. Beef, dairy, shellfish, and eggs, all rank highest in ocean acidification and eutrophication, land use and carbon output - no matter how they're produced.
