For the first three years of life, I spent all my waking hours with my grandparents. I didn't speak until I was three, didn't make a peep, so that my mother worried I was deaf or autistic. When I did begin speaking it was in full sentences with a lowland Scottish accent. They thought I had a speech impediment when I started school so they sent me to twice weekly speech therapy from kindergarten to grade 4. My speech therapist was an Italian woman with an accent so thick I couldn't understand most of what she said. So now I just don't talk.

Lol I've lived in Seattle my whole life and I can honestly say that there pretty much isn't any ghettos here anymore it's all been gentrified. If someone says a place in Seattle is "ghetto" what they really mean is either A. It is an area with a lot of ethnic diversity or B. It's slightly low income. However we do have a high homeless population and I was homeless for 6 years in Seattle so...there's that...

Yeah, but Tacoma is WAY more ghetto than Seattle, especially Tacoma's Hilltop District. Back in the late 80s, some Hilltop Crips got into a 3-day long gunbattle with Army Rangers from Fort Lewis. The Tacoma PD stayed out of it.

We lived in Augusta when my husband was stationed at Ft. Gordon, and honestly, I really loved it. Where else can you walk two blocks for amazing Mexican food (Veracruz ftw!) and two more blocks for a shooting range, and six blocks more to your kid's elementary school? I loved how you were close to everything, and yet because of the elevation, you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere, because you could turn onto your street (less than a mile from the junction of three freeways) and be surrounded by trees and mountain.

BRoman1237 southern mountain dialect (as the folk speech of Appalachia is called by linguists) is certainly archaic, but the general historical period it represents can be narrowed down to the days of the first Queen Elizabeth, and can be further particularized by saying that what is heard today is actually a sort of Scottish-flavored Elizabethan English. Having been isolated in the mountains and hollers, our dialect remains largely unchanged over the years. I love the way we speak! 😀

I’m from Texas and we’ve lived in Edmonds, just outside Seattle for 15 years. We love it here but Seattle has really changed a lot due to this homeless, ie heroin problem. It’s scary to go to some of the restaurants down there cause the area is not safe. And road/ traffic issues are just too frustrating to talk about.

@Zhong Ping not entirely true. over time language and speech evolves and changes. that being said, there isn't one accent or dialect throughout all of the US. you go to maine and people will sound different than those in texas who will also sound different than those in new york or jersey, and all of them would sound different from someone from iowa who will sound different from those in the dakotas and wisconsin

As a woman who had stretch marks long before she got pregnant... I was not upset about what new stretch marks I did get from being pregnant... and because I am a round woman in general, no one bothered me with intrusive questions until my ninth month. My point is, there is always a silver lining when it comes to loving your body. 😁

Just to trigger the both of you... My wife didn't really get noticeable stretch marks until our fourth kid and no one knew she was pregnant for the first 3 until she was already at like 7-8 months. She was skinny until she tied her tubes after #4. Then she started looking like the average mom.

I know its just jokes but I live in pioneer square in seattle, in the daytime its not too bad, you'll get hit up for spare change every couple blocks and occasionally someone will snatch you're wallet ( for god sakes people don't ever break out your wallet to get change for someone, 4 outs 6 times they'll snatch it from your hand and run off). but overall its a nice touristy area, but once the sun goes down it's junkies, dealers and crack hoes and between midnight and 3 am is usually when you'll hear the gunshots. a guy was shot in the parking lot across the street last week, the week before that someone was put through the window of the 7-11, there were 9 shots in the alley next to my apartment a couple months ago and last night cops had to drag away two junkies fighting over a backpack. those amazon workers and art students are seattle's don't represent the majority of the population, especially downtown

If you have a dog that has back problems tho, Get a veterinarian certified dog masseuse. Try breed-specific if you can. It’s not cheap but it relieves a lot of pain for dogs that normally have back problems later in life.

This. I'm from Atlanta too and recently visited Seattle and was expecting a really clean and beautiful city but it really isn't. There are very nice areas but many very dirty areas and the homeless/junkie problem there is unbelievable. Atlanta is actually nicer imo which was shocking. There are some extremely bad ghettos in Atlanta, though but they're getting better.
