Cleveland's Millennium, who are a relatively obscure N.W.O.B.H.M. act, came to prominence in the early part of the eighties. The five-piece band was formed in 1983 and managed to score an appearance on the "Pure Overkill" split the same year. Playing alongside the bands Risk, Spartan Warrior, Incubus (who we recently covered in another NWOBHM WEDNESDAY feature) and Tokyo Rose helped boost the band's presence on the English heavy metal scene. The three cuts that the band laid to tape ( "Steal Your Heart", "Rock Was Meant For Me" and "Magic Mirror") for "Pure Overkill" were added to the band's lone long-player, the self-titled "Millennium". From the opening number, "Gang Wars", (my favorite cut on the album!) to the album's closer ("Try To Leave Me") there was a sound that combined the best part of eighties metal and the British metal scene. Despite rave reviews (Including one in "Kerrang" magazine) the band seemed to lose their way after the album's release. First came some line-up reshuffling before a brief name change (Tyrone Power? Really?) nearly ruined everything. Having to go it alone (as in no more label support) the band issued a 1985 demo. The demo announced a shift in style as no longer was the band content to play Desolation Angels-style metal, but instead they took on a more Helloween sound. Another demo ("Metal Era") followed in 1986 on which the band made an unsuccessful return to their earlier style. The band took one last shoot at regaining their lost glory with another demo in 1987 before calling it a day. Other than vocalist Mark Duffy (who would go on to have success in with thrash act Toranaga) the band members faded away. Their one self-titled album has been issued on CD by Guardian Records. It is more than a worthwhile addition to any N.W.O.B.H.M. collection.

We are presently rehearsing with a new line up,when I first joined Millennium I was a guitarist and I have now gone back to that role with another new guitarist and bass player and it is sounding mighty!Steve is back and drums and Mark sounds better now on vocals than he ever did! Will keep you guys informed!

awesome heavy metal album from the new wave of british heavy metal, awesome band name millennium, this album does sound very powerful love the riffs on this album so bone crunching. one of the best examples for new wave of british heavy metal, those who are new to nwobhm this is a good start for you this masterpiece metal album. #nwobhmforever this album i am getting a heavy metal orgasm, i need to find and buy this album so bad.

The guitar work on this is amazing...also check out Spartan warrior more of the same ! I do have a original 1984 lp of this after a long hunt for it I found a copy that popped up still sealed in a 2nd hand this and that store in Seattle. I wouldn't take anything for it.

fucking awesome album from underrated new wave of british heavy metal band, millennium. a 5 peace band, this was their only album and they only was in a few compo albums shame. not a known band this album is rare too. the riffs on this album so damm bone crunching. i am so getting a heavy metal orgasm listening to this. just a album worth listening to again and again. a real underrated masterpiece. #nwobhmforever

Jamie Warrior Warlord McCallum This album was released on CD in June last year with No Remorse Records. In addition to these ten tracks includes eight bonus, but those are rather different genre which I likened the thrash metal. But otherwise it is really a great album with great songs and riffs are. Now No Remorse Records also released another great NWOBHM compilation from Mendes Prey!

Hey this is really a very good album. I was actually searching for the thrash metal band Millennium from Bangalore India. They played late eighties early till mid nineties..I saw them as a thirteen years old in 1995 in Bombay..those days were good days yaar!! Btw I've added this album to my collection. ✌☮

This album sounds like Bladerunner - Hunted overall, but the Devil Rides Out sounds identical to Accept - Restless and Wild with Don Dokken type Vocals. This Vocalist sounds mellow, and no range. Similar to what Joe Elliott sounded on On Through the Night, and I swear the Millennium Vocalist used the same melody and Phrasing for every single song that appeared on this album. He has a decent Voice ( probably the same gentleman who provided the Voice for Syar - Death Before Dishonor Lp ) . Post NWOBHM UK that lacks the power of bands like Grim Reaper, Rankelson, or Samurai due to the soft wimpy Vocals

Too many people praise anything that is Traditional Metal. I'm sorry but there were 1000s of great albums in 1983 - 1984 . This wasn't horrible, but it was no Ostrogoth - Full Moons Eyes , Grim Reaper - See You in Hell, Wolf - Edge of the World, Accept - Balls To the Wall , or Slayer - Show No Mercy. Millennium was pretty average. Definitely better than Sad Iron , and Heaven Bent . The guitar tone on Millennium reminds me of Savage - Loose and Lethal ( Definitely superb, but the band outshines the Vocalist) . Almost like Tygers of Pantang with Jess Cox , this dude was just lacking the energy, range and power for such intense and tight musicianship
