That bird made me jump, 😂. Cool old house, I'm surprised at how well it's stood up against the weather out there. Thanks for sharing.

@@secondaryhighway Aren't they just? Noisy as heck too. Where are all the swallows? I've heard their numbers are falling or are they not as common in the south as they are in more northern regions? They are much more pleasant in all regards.

I'm fascinated and at the same time saddened to see a house in this condition. If only those walls could speak. I've often wondered why people just walk away from these homes, leaving so many of their belongings behind. Perhaps they hoped to return one day. That dark room in the basement may have been a cistern at one time, collecting rain water from the roof. The 100+ year-old house I grew up in had one in the basement.

I may go back with a light. But you're probably right. Odd, but that crack in the wall seemed to be the only entrance. But I didn't stay down there long enough.

My first impression is there is ALOT of stuff in the house. The bird scared me for sure, was a pretty big house and a lot of smaller bldgs nearby also.

That color of paint was popular. I've found that same color under the years of paint in my 124 year old farmhouse.

I heard that the paint could’ve been supplied. By the government which was why it was all lead based and those institutional colours.

At 7:59 there is an image of it looks like a man slightly bent over-looks like you can see some facial features - now I know it's plaster fallen showing the lath boards but it definitely and genuinely looks like maybe Mr. Miller was still working around his Homestead undoubtedly these souls were so tied to their properties that always required work to keep the elements at bay!!! Another possibly unusual capture in this property but not beyond the realm of possibility!!!

lol that's a great question. Kind of hard to explain my passion but it started as a kid. Exploring abandoned houses with my pals growing up in the early 1980's. Lost it as I grew older, but then picked it back up in 2007 purely by accident. Picked up a camera and found that abandoned buildings made for interesting photo subjects. Then I became more interested in the history, families and their stories. Walking through the rooms of these places are at times, haunting and sad, reflecting on the memories that were made in these now neglected places. I'm fortunate to have met some of the old timers who either built these homes or grew up here. Thanks for your comment and for watching as I'm sure there are many people wondering the same thing. :)

@@secondaryhighwayThats wonderful that you picked back up on an old joy. Great for us too! I loved the same as a youngster. It started when my dad took the whole family out berry picking in the 80s to an old abandoned settlement he knew of outside of town. There were tons of raspberry bushes long overgrown but with many berries and still plenty of old buildings. I was fascinated by the old tins and things and still have a picture I took of my sister and my best friend who came along that day. Other than the spam sandwiches( lol hazard of living before delis), it was a good trip and the first of many. Now I live vicariously through you who is much braver than I.
