Natural Hair Flat Iron and Too Groovy Salon Experience | Naturally Michy

Here is a small snippet of my visit to Too Groovy Texture Salon. I wanted to do something special for my birthday, so I decided to get it professionally flat ironed after being natural for 3-1/2 years. It was a great experience overall & I would definitely do it again :)

It looks lovely! If you're interested in keeping a few curls/waves and volume in your hair, try medium to large pin curls. It helped prolong the length of my style during the humidity.

Love your hair! Didn't know you live in Atlanta also! I went to Too Groovy once and they were great, I enjoyed the massage as well. I used to pin curl my hair to keep the body and volume without reapplying heat when it was straight. Girl you have me thinking about getting it straightened now again, lol

MsRieb Thank you! A ceramic flat iron was used in the silk process. It may be called a ceramic fusion or something similar to that.

kashmeade03 Thank you :) I do trim my hair myself and I've done it several different ways. I've done it on flat ironed hair, wet hair in 2 strand twists, feather dusted on dry hair, wet hair with conditioner pulled taut. I don't have a favorite method as of yet, so I'm still searching here on KZbin to find the best method for me.

I like it. I do have 2 questions. Was your hair this long prior to you going natural? Also how many passes did the stylist do on your hair with the flat iron?

Jennifer Smith I did have longer hair up until my sophomore year in high school. After that my hair kept breaking & getting shorter from heat damage (I wanted a certain look, so I applied heat to my hair almost every day). When it finally reached above my shoulders, that's when I decided to go natural to get my length back. This is probably the longest that it's been in over 12 years or so. As for the stylist, she only did one pass with the flat iron :)
