There has never been anyone quite like the fabulous Millie Jackson in the annals of American r'n'b music, a true maverick and savvy business woman who not only masterminded and managed her own career but gave her audience plenty to cheer about. This 1980 interview shows why Millie is all things controversial, independent and a woman pioneer in the music business

That’s my mom, closest to the camera singing background for her 😩🙌🏽 I’ve been looking for a glimpse of her early career and to see it for a second is really amazing 🫶🏽

I don't like the interview. That guy was just trying to make Millie out to be some degenerate, which I hate. Leave her alone, her life is her business!

He acted like she was doing porn onstage. Her act isn't rated X. Instead of talking about how she originated her style an her career. She actually started out as a model. I'm with you he doesn't know anything about her. He was a ver incompetent and unprepared interviewer.

5:17 “some talent” is disrespectful. Millie has a really dope catalogue, and her musical arrangements are on the level with Isaac Hayes, Barry White, Frankie Beverly/Maze. (I use them because they are only ones I can think of with 10 min songs on soulful beats)

He doesn't know anything about her. He was a ver incompetent and unprepared interviewer. And WTF does her children and their fathers have to do with ANYTHING? Then to ask her why she didn't marry the fathers what kind of question is that? That has absolutely nothing to do with her career, her stageshow, or her talent. I hope she cussed him out off the record.
