Always loved this lady, saw her stage show 3 times. Twice in South Carolina and once in Japan. When I first heard her in that Cleopatra Jones movie, i was sprung.

I used to hear caught up/still caught up a lot when I was a kid but obviously the lyrics went over my head. Hearing it again as an adult it is a tragic drama - beautifully sang but what a sad ending to the story. A young girl taken advantage of by an older man and after many years she ends in the mad house. Millies voice is epic.

Same here!!! My mother played her albums when I was a young girl and it all def went over my head too. But now that I’m grown I feel Ms. Millie Jackson.

I retired and every now and again I would haul prisoners .. I would play Millie Jackson and the young black guys would always ask “who is that nasty bitch.” In a loving way.. Funny part of this is the fact that more white guys in their late twenties and early thirties knew who she was then black guys in the same age group.. It was a puzzlement .. but no one ever asked me to turn her off... That never surprised me..
